As that is not possible, I have awarded four stars rather than three as the story certainly held my interest throughout. I’ve enjoyed the first two but feel annoyed that they both ended abruptly before the action was over! I've listened to MANY mysteries/thrillers and really enjoy this author's writing skills in this genre. A case that was solved early in the book seemed to have little impact and no mention of repercussions, so why was it included?

I had read and enjoyed the previous book by this author featuring these detectives so I was looking forward to this novel. Each holds a clue from the start and it is perhaps incompetant police work that fills the ensuing 200 pages.Dead Silent by Helen Durrant is this month’s read over at the Kindle English Mystery Club on Goodreads. Personally I dislike it when authors do this as I feel cheated having paid for a book only to find it incomplete and having to fork out more money if I want to find out what happens next.

If you found the first book in the series a touch too gruesome for you I'm afraid this book isn't going to be any better for you if you've got a weak stomach, especially if you are afraid of the dentist! In addition, I was not entirely convinced by the main perpetrator’s motive for their heinous actions.

This starts with two cases the first a missing child and the second a body found at the scene of a road accident that forensics said was dead prior to crash. mostly person with a man she's been dating who is having a real hard time being delegated to third place, after her job and her stress-relieving bird watching.
