The Speed Lite 24 comes with a framed, 3-D stretch mesh back panel to provide superior support while allowing for airflow along your back. This helps keep the shoulder straps from catching in your shoulder joints and keeps the stability of the pack when moving over rough ground. The U-shaped frame with adjustable chest strap and padded lumbar belt allows for maximum freedom of movement and weight distribution. From a perfectly contoured and comfortable harness system to straps for hiking poles or ice axes, this pack can do it all. The hip belt features zippered pockets for more storage and the ability to keep your pack on while accessing these items.

Daisy-chain loops with a larger bottom loop sit on both sides of the front pocket, conceivably allowing the wearer to clip a substantial amount of climbing gear to the outside of the pack. Although the Deuter Speed Lite 24 was completely capable of ferrying over 20 pounds during fastpacking, I felt the sweet spot was between 15 and 20 pounds, especially when I progressed to spurts of trail running. Lightweight and durable the Speed Lite 24 SL is the perfect companion for all kinds of outdoor pursuits like trekking, hiking and equally versatile for an approach to the crag or a winter tour. The top pocket includes a key fob and enough room for the various incidentals like a headlamp, snacks, camera, phone, etc.This combo gives the pack an outsize carrying capacity—I had no issue carrying 15-20 pounds while soloing fourth- and easy fifth-class rock, as the harness controlled the weight well and prevented the pack from moving around on my torso. The external stretch mesh side pockets are able to hold your large water bottles for additional water or storage if needed. Pack designers are often guilty of needless complication, but while there's quite a lot going on here, the zip-entry Speed Lite manages to feel functional and uncluttered. The backpack has a Delrin U Frame, an athletic V-shaped construction that helps distribute the weight evenly.

The Deuter Speed Lite 24 has compression straps that can be run all the way around to the back of the pack to create very secure cargo and keep everything as close to your center of gravity as possible.

The key to this lightweight design is the backsystem and hipbelt; unlike a lot of packs which feature a rigid, heavy design, the Speed Lite is about as minimalist as it gets, with lightweight foam and a layer of mesh used to give you the highest level of breathability in a pack which you can take travelling, trekking and mountaineering without sacrifice.
