I may be incorrect, but must assume that “the normal way” and thus preferred for Ruth’s happiness, to avoid unhappy struggles, would be more like how you, or Myrna, or well obviously someone “normal” would do it. Even more curious is the first edition of Charlotte’s Web found in the cabin’s outhouse, and a spider web with the word Woo on it.
