At the same time, I was fascinated by all the secrets that are gradually revealed; no one in the family is exempt from deception. I didn't mind Vivian, her secret was a bit humorous and, although she wasn't doing a real good job of it, she was trying to hold her family together. Thrillers can often pose problems when it comes to over-descriptive language and unnecessary detail, yet my attention did not drop throughout my time reading. It irritated me the first time it happened and I let it go, assuming it was a character's affectation but when another person used it I wasn't having it !
