About this deal

I’m not a horse person but have always been fascinated by these magnificent animals and the people obsessed with them. I like the stories, I like the characters, I like the usually happy and satisfying endings – in fact, there is not much that I don’t like about them really. When Sarah is talking to Thom about Le Cadre Noir she says, “Papa always said that when he came to Le Cadre Noir it was the first time in his life he had felt understood. The horse, nicknamed Boo, is a Selle Français, a breed of sport horse from France renowned primarily for its success in show jumping. Moyes ( Me Before You; After You) is a master of character development, allowing each of her protagonists to stumble, shine, and surprise in all their humanity.

In parts of the book it shows that Sarah will do anything to keep Boo and achieve her dream of riding in Saumar. When Henri is suddenly hospitalized, Sarah finds herself alone until her path crosses Natasha Macauley, a solicitor advocate who takes her in, along with her estranged husband, Mac.

I'm not really a "horsey" kind of girl although I love animals but rest assured, you don't have to know a whole lot about horses to appreciate this lovely, uplifting novel. What I didn’t know was that he had written a book about horsemanship which is used by Henri as a sort of bible for training horses. There are times when you want to throttle all of them but then later want to applaud them for what’s truly in their hearts. There are also some action-packed, heart-stopping sequences I wasn't expecting which involve a horse ride/chase through central London that may not be entirely believable to some readers but which I loved.

Like there were just a few other people in the world who spoke his language and all of them lived in that one place” (p. She made the words leap from the pages, creating vivid images of setting, the quirky folks in Henri and Sarah’s world and, of course Boo. Natasha has a boyfriend, Conor, a partner from the law firm she works for and seems to be settling into a new life.Questa è la storia di Sarah un 14enne introversa, ma abile cavallerizza che si vede costretta a prendersi cura del suo amato Boo da sola, perché suo nonno è stato colpito da un ictus. Anyone who is a regular visitor to and reader of my blog will know that I have a liking of Jojo Moyes’ books. Certainly the author captured the connection possible between horse and human, and I loved the quotes from Xenophon at the beginning of each chapter.

Henri has been trying to train Sarah in the basics of dressage, an equestrian sport defined by the International Equestrian Federation as “the highest expression of horse training” in which “horse and rider are expected to perform from memory a series of predetermined movements. It’s different every time because he might be in a mood or I might be tired, or the ground might be softer. A quintessential Jojo Moyes novel about a lost girl and her horse, the enduring strength of friendship, and how even the smallest choices can change everything. But when he meets Florence, it’s love at first sight and he gives it all up to be with her in England. But I was so disappointed with this book, it is a far cry from the other 8 books of hers I have read.Definitely read if you like horses, or even just enjoyed the dressage this summer (although the airs above the ground are rarely performed outside displays by La Cadre Noir and The Spanish Riding School of Vienna). Sarah stables Boo in London’s Sparepenny Lane under the watchful eye of Cowboy John and his sketchy acquaintances. in " The BookBrowse Review" - BookBrowse's membership magazine, and in our weekly " Publishing This Week" newsletter. When I came to take a quick peek I saw a four star review by GR friend Jonetta, and that was good enough for me.
