The Scarlet Letter, Hawthorne’s masterpiece, has never been out of print since it was first published in 1850. The good questions are asked to the child audience and they are left to ponder what they think the answer might be. Occasional cracking in the gutter between pages, but book is very much firm and solid, with no loose pages. There's so much in our wonderful universe to understand no need to repeat old tired myths that only confuse children. With the book’s insistence on narrative, and focus on typography, the result combines the best of two worlds.

More than anything I’ve seen recently this book is a tactile experience, and yet another volume(that designation which Borges always used to emphasise) which makes a nonsense of the idea of screens as an adequate replacement for all books.

Tushman, who has asked three other students — Jack Will, Charlotte, and Julian — to take him on a tour of the school. Complete with the very good dustwrapper which is nicked with short closed tears at the spine tips and darkened to the spine and panel edges. More importantly, this book highlights and validates the answer "I don't know" as being a sufficient answer. His ancestors include John Hathorne, the only judge who never repented of his actions involved in the witch trials .

is paired with lovely artwork from illustrator Kenard Pak in this imaginative picture-book, which concludes with an answer to the question of why we wonder so much.

and I wonder if cars and trucks speak the same language remind us of a child's unique point of view. Too often people don't realize it's okay not to have all the answers and this book is one way to share with kids that it's okay to just wonder and not know. In Bantjes’ world, there is really no boundary between text and ornament, message and medium, everyday and profound. Wonder is a good thing, but it is the action taken to learn that is the greatest gift we can give our children!Thinking about it more though, maybe that's why this book is perfect for our family, because I am a "let's find out" kind of mom. A Wonder Book by Nathaniel Hawthorne (First Edition) Arthur Rackham A firm square copy with moderate edge wear. It would be fun to generate a list of questions with kids and then illustrate them as an art exercise.

Illustrated with 16 tipped in tissue guarded colour plates, a further 8 full page colour plates and black and white drawings throughout the text by Arthur Rackham. In the morning her Wonder Book is filled with beautiful pictures and poems of her adventures and the extraordinary stories she has heard. The author's note further explains the message behind the book development, which is that it's okay to say, "I don't know", to wonder, and teach our children curiosity. The novel has been translated into 29 languages for worldwide sales: Spanish, Catalan, Japanese, German, French, Portuguese, Danish, Czech, Serbian, Arabic, Hebrew, Norwegian, Icelandic, Swedish, Faroese, Turkish, Dutch, Persian, Italian, Finnish, Russian, Korean, Chinese, Ukrainian, Polish, Croatian, Greek, Romanian, Vietnamese, and Slovenian. There is loss to the top of the spine and edge nibbling at the bottom of the spine and the flap joints and along the top edge of the back cover.Knopf (now part of Penguin Random House), the novel was a top seller for the firm when the film was released in 2017, when it sold 5 million copies in combined book and ebook units in the United States. There's also kind of this wonderful sense that wondering about something can fill you with wonder, which was really nice. But I also realized something even more important: I hadn’t taught her to say “I don’t know” let alone celebrated her ability to do so.
