About this deal

I think we all need to take more accountability for situations we find ourselves in and stop begrudging others. For all ebook purchases, you will be prompted to create an account or login with your existing HarperCollins username and password. Honest, unapologetic and outspoken, yet erudite, authentic and endlessly passionate about exposing the toxic myths within diet culture, and committed to helping people to reach their goals and make positive change for good.

A lot of the things are something I do agree with, such as looking at negativity and thinking of how much energy we waste in worrying about things. From his Facebook Lives with Brian the bird in Bondi to a brief stint as a JSA member during the first Bali competition where I learned all I need to know to maintain and improve my fitness level.

I also don't agree with the author asking on Facebook to give him good reviews because someone has given him a one star review! Every reference book he cites would be far better to read than this book (I haven't read them all but I have read a good proportion). Would recommend to anyone who wants to change their life, whether minor or majorly, but is sitting in the fence/living in fear.

The book is a cheese fest of 'perfect world' advice about always do what you want to do, live how you want to live, and reeks of a young man's thoughts on the world who has no children, no commitments and has made it good relatively quickly so has never lived in the real world. a communication chapter and how to talk to people just seemed to bang on about social media following, not hugely useful for the average person looking to sort their life out. The only possible reason why he abruptly kept quoting Einstein about the law of thermodynamics in a self improvement book is the effort to seem smarter even though “he didn’t do school”. Meditation and mental health were great chapters but the ones that hit home was mindset and motivation. He doesn’t narrate it that well, bit stilted but I do like him and imagine he’s bringing some of these concepts to a new audience. All I saw were people saying that he was talking about social media and just packing a bag and travelling. I loved James first book and I follow the podcasts and Instagram so I was really looking forward to this book but very disappointed. No you might not be able to just up and leave country at this given moment, but if you so desperately want to you can plan to make that happen. It felt a bit self-centered a lot of the time, but I understand his point, just not something that I found particularly useful. Giving it a very generous 2/5 stars here when really it only deserves a one, subjectively speaking of course, objectively I would say this book is good for those who aren't self-aware enough to understand themselves and their own values.
