About this deal

PS the fact that he kept going off on tangents while trying to read his own audiobook was brilliant! He pushed Michael further and higher than he believed he could go and the love and appreciation Michael felt for him is very apparent.

What a brilliant book and the most down to earth, sincere and humble gentleman I have read about, and this book is just as good as his first book, absolutely fantastic.Like most people in the country, I absolutely adore Michael McIntyre - I’m sure there are some people who don’t, but I haven’t met them and I don’t wish to. I don’t watch a lot of comedy these days and I truly cannot stand what many people seem to love, but he’s an exception. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. He is an obsessive character, his ambition spurring him on to greater and greater heights, as with his runaway Saturday night success with Michael McIntyre's Big Show.

I like Michael McIntyre's ability to make people laugh without necessarily assassinating people's character or swearing all over the place and he pulls it off in this book too. I listened to the audio version, narrated by Michael and I'm so glad I chose this format over the print. I have been enjoying Michael McIntyre’s work for many years and saw him live in Cardiff back in 2018. Not everyone will like you, and they don't have to, but performing to people who don't get it is tough. He deserves every bit of success that he worked so hard for and it was fab to hear more of his story!

Regardless, it’s a very well written memoir; funny, of course, but also very poignant in places too. Becoming a success in any profession, let alone something as difficult as showbiz, is full of highs and a lot of lows, and he doesn’t ignore these. I might be wrong, but in my opinion he now appears to have plateaued in his career, I am not a fan of his show, The Wheel, where to me it feels as if he is coasting on past glories. There’s a lot of elaborating what he’s achieved and what that has bought him in terms of money and possessions. My life would have been so much easier if I could do my Live at the Apollo and Royal Variety sets until I’m old and grey, but the truth is nobody wants to hear a joke twice.
