About this deal

There aren't many audio companies that have been around to celebrate 80 years in the business. But Wharfedale has marked that impressive milestone with the Denton stand mounters. These are immensely likeable. Their relaxed yet engaging sound has a lot of appeal. They're fully capable of delivering a large slice of sonic heaven [and] we can't think of a rival at this price that will suit you better!" Music Direct reserves the right to change the terms of this promotion or discontinue this offer at any time. What you get with the new Denton is a decidedly retro looking loudspeaker boasting a beautifully veneered Mahogany cabinet, inset front baffle and traditional cloth grille. But beneath that 1960s fascia things inside are very different indeed. The original model’s paper cone mid/bass unit is replaced by Wharfedale’s own 21st century 125mm woven Kevlar driver while the tweeter is a bang-up-to-date 25mm textile soft dome.

The original Denton was well known for its warm, rich and natural sounding character and the 85th Anniversary Edition retains that character but imbues it with an open, detailed performance that will entice you to explore your whole music collection. Fire them up and the first thing you notice is the impressive timing and amazing amount of detail they manage to excavate. Depending on what it should qualify for. Hifi setups or monitors. The modern Dentons are indeed not allround in performance. They are not monitors and have a signature to them. When it comes to allround, Wharfedale's Diamond 12 series would probably more be there, but for mixing I might leave them for dedicated monitors.Save 30% in our exclusive deal on Wharfedale Denton speakers. Built to celebrate Wharfedale's 80th anniversary, these beautiful speakers are an updated version of the original Denton and combine a nod to traditional design with the latest in loudspeaker design. Original Model It was a bit of fun but both PMCs and RS6s showed the Dentons a clean pair of heels. And the cat didn't like them either. The midrange and treble, however, were still very pleasing but the muddiness of the bass did distract from the overall presentation. Depth was foreshortened compared to the best I've heard, but the left-to-right stereo spread was marvelous.

Low Profile Chassis: The Bass/mid unit features an open chassis structure to reduce reflection from rear cone movements, allowing air to move freely from the driver, which in turn results in an overall even response with very low distortion. Formed from injection-molded alloy in a shape pioneered by Wharfedale, the chassis itself provides substantial damping of ring waves.was considering NAD C 326BEE or C 375BEE but since plenty of them have power module issues I have dropped those two) Mrs. said, have we still got the big'uns? by the big'uns she meant Monitor Audio RS6s. I replied, "up in the loft". After being covered in cobwebs I placed the MAs and switched on and... OMG, I'd forgotten how good they sound. They were everything I expected the Dentons to be: Cohesive, balanced and just downright musical. I need to find NAD dealer and listen to it again. In the mean time I have bought Pro-ject Pre Box DS2 Analogue (with walnut side panels to match Denton's) from a local HiFi shop and very strongly consider XTZ Edge A2-400 or less expensive A2-300 to pair with Denton's. The other option option that I am eyeing currently is Bruno Putzeys Eigentakt Purifi amp from VTV but still hesitant since I can not evaluate them in person prior buying it. That bullet was making me crazy... Ended up buying a pair within two weeks of this post if I'm not mistaken] I am so far disappointed in their imaging, which so far sounds very flat and two-dimensional. Even my ancient AR4x's have a better realized soundstage. Again, this very well could change once the speakers burn in.
