About this deal

There are four main sterilisation units on the market: cold water sterilisers, microwave sterilisers, electric sterilisers and travel sterilisers. They all have their own pros and cons. 1. Cold water steriliser I liked the tall, slimline design of this machine, which takes up less counter space than most comparable models, and the accessories tray that sits above (rather than around) the bottle grid. The tray is roomy enough for lots of pacifiers, teethers and other smaller items. The steriliser is also very light, with a nice digital interface, and comes with a handy measuring cup that takes the guesswork out of how much water to use. Bottle sterilizers kill bacteria on the surface of baby bottles or other items that you use to feed your baby. Though they do the same job, sterilizers have different capabilities. Here are some things to keep in mind.

I’m aware this makes me tragic, but I found this unit so fun to use that after I’d finished with the bottles, I was looking around the house for more things to sterilise - baby bowls, scissors, toys, you name it. There’s just something so space age and satisfying about it. I got the Dr. Brown bottle warmer and sterilizer. I sterilized all the bottles, parts, and nipples once a day until I was done with it at 11 months. The warmer was handy for those late night feeds so you don't have to wait longer for the milk to warm from the fridge."Multiplicity of functions means a great deal of flexibility – whatever kind of sterilisation you need (except cold water), this product can cover it While they tend to take longer to sterilise things than a steam steriliser, the advantage of a UV steriliser is that you don't have to contend with equipment that's hot to the touch after sterilisation, making them a safer option for most households. You also won't need to do any descaling after use. What makes a steriliser safe? If you use bottles with extra parts, like Dr. Brown's, you'll wish there was a place to put smaller parts.

Your baby's feeding equipment can also be put through the dishwasher to clean. Be aware that the dishwasher will clean but not sterilise. Ensure bottles, lids, and teats are facing downwards. What is the difference between sanitising and sterilising? The disadvantages are the smell, the need to continually buy new tablets and the inconvenience of keeping a large container full of water in a corner of your kitchen – especially relevant if you have other small children. 2. Electric steriliser Drying: Steam sterilization leaves items wet, unless the sterilizer has a drying feature. Some even allow you to only use them as a dryer, which can be handy if you're washing bottles but don't need to sterilize. Cold water steriliser: A cold-water steriliser uses a sterilising tablet or liquid and cold water to sterilise bottles or feeding equipment submerged in it. It's a silent sterilising option if you're up in the middle of the night, and a huge plus of using a cold-water option is that your equipment will stay sterilised as long as they are submerged in water. During the first year of a baby's life, parents have a lot to worry about, not the least of which is that a baby's immune system is the most fragile at this time. Camille Sabella, M.D., Director of the Center for Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Cleveland Clinic Children’s, states that “an infant’s immune system doesn’t mature until around 2 to 3 months.” While there's not much one can do to avoid exposure to household germs altogether, there certainly are steps to take to help ensure they are bacteria-free. Enter the bottle sterilizer – these nifty gadgets make it easy to sanitize (99.9%) bottles, nipples, toys, pump parts, and anything the baby may put into their mouth (which is, like, everything.)Time: How long will it take to sterilise each item? Will that then fit into your routine and schedule easily? Do certain features take longer than others? Accessibility: Is everyone that needs to use it able to use it? Will it work for a family with multiple children?
