About this deal

I’m allergic to Virginia Creeper and I have it growing on both sides of my property in Middle Tennessee. Currently, I’m using a mixture of Distilled Vinegar, table salt, and Dawn liquid dish soap as a surfactant.

Roundup and Crossbow are both effective weed killers, but they work in different ways. Roundup is a non selective chemical weed killer that works by inhibiting the growth of all plants – including grass and other plants you DON’T want to kill. Crossbow, on the other, uses Triclopyr which kills only weeds – but has some additional side effects and takes longer to kill weeds. The Crossbow herbicide contains 2 lb of active ingredient 2,4-D (2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid) per gallon of the herbicide, which is equivalent to 23.7% of the product’s total volume. Additionally, it contains 1 lb of the active ingredient triclopyr BEE per gallon, which is equivalent to 11.9% of the product’s total volume. Step 2: Fill the spray tank with half of the amount of water required then add in the appropriate amount of Crossbow. Add in the appropriate amount of selected surfactant as suggested by the label and agitate the sprayer to make sure the solutions is mixed well.Crossbow and Roundup both kill weeds in the same amount of time. Crossbow takes 7-14 days to kill weeds. Roundup requires 7–14 days to kill plants and grasses down to the root. While both herbicides require time to work through the plant’s system to kill it completely, Crossbow can be a faster-acting alternative to Roundup.

Instead of reaching for a Glyphosate-based weed killer, such as Roundup, use Crossbow for these applications. Not only is Crossbow the better tool for the job, unlike Glyphosate products it won’t harm grass. How to Use Crossbow Weed Killer Safely Another thing to keep in mind is if you have dairy animals around, do not allow them to graze the treated areas until the next growing season after you apply the Crossbow herbicide. Both Crossbow and Roundup have strengths and weaknesses. Crossbow won’t kill crabgrass but Roundup will. On the other hand, poison ivy will shrug off an application of Roundup, while Crossbow will wipe out the ivy. Roundup is more expensive that crossbow but crossbow requires multiple applications. So overall, crossbow is more cost effective. However, if you are only trying to get rid of a few weeds – Roundup would be the better option because of its high efficacy. Using Near Water Source This one is specially formulated for killing some of the toughest weeds and brush, including horsetail.

The active ingredients in Crossbow herbicide are 2,4-D (2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid) and triclopyr BEE (3,5,6-trichloro-2-pyridinyloxyacetic acid, butoxyethyl ester). No, you should not spray Crossbow herbicide on wet grass because it can affect its effectiveness. For great results, you should wait and apply the herbicide on dry grass. Is Crossbow herbicide safe for bees?

Crossbow Herbicide Review – Final Analysis

Crossbow herbicide should be applied during the active growing stage of the weeds, typically in early spring to early summer. This systemic herbicide must be absorbed by the plant’s system, so even if you see a change in the weed’s leaves, it can take up to 14 days for the plant to die completely. Step 3:Spray the application to targeted areas where weeds are growing, preferably on a fan spray setting for uniform coverage. If trying to control an invasive tree, you will need an oil-based carrier and will need to perform a cut-stump treatment. Apply enough spray to wet the lower 12 to 15 inches of the trunk, including the root collar. You can store Crossbow herbicide in a dark place with a temperature not too cold or too high, far away from the sun’s rays, animals, pets, or children.
