About this deal

What do I mean by this? Well, unlike most robotic mowers, this one isn’t designed to be left outside all the time. It’s a drop and go machine which can be charged indoors and then you simply need to pop it on the ground and let it do its thing. There are many advantages to this which I’ll dive into in my LawnMaster VBRM16 review. The LawnMaster VBRM16 cuts in a random pattern. When you turn it on, it’ll start mowing in a forwards direction and will then move around the lawn. When it reaches a boundary or an obstacle, the LawnMaster VBRM16 will turn to cut in another direction. The LawnMaster L10 will cut the perimeter of your lawn on every third day, just before it starts its normal random mowing pattern. You also have the ability to manually start this perimeter mow should it be required. This is a great feature as it limits the amount of additional work cutting around the edge of the lawn.

SAFETY: Using the camera and ultrasonic sensors the mower detects and avoids obstacles such as garden furniture. A child safety key prevents unauthorised use, and sensors stop the blade when the mower is lifted.Honda’s Miimo is also more efficient at mowing than most rivals. It cuts in a sensible pattern, breaking the lawn down into sections, then cutting in stripes, much like you would if you were mowing manually. This means the risk of it missing a bit is significantly lower than with mowers that move around your lawn randomly. Instead of being guided by a wire, the mower uses a camera mounted on the front of the device to scan the lawn in front of it. If it sees a surface that isn’t grass, it turns round and heads off in a different direction. Because of this it doesn’t need a perimeter wire or a charging station – when it’s cut enough you simply switch it off and put it away. The battery is removable and is charged in a separate charging unit. However, you can add additional functions and take greater control over the mower using an app on your smartphone. This lets you start and stop the mower remotely (though it only supports Bluetooth, so you still have to be in the vicinity). More crucially, it lets you control exactly when the robot should head out for a run, with two programmable mowing slots available for each day of the week, so you can really fine-tune your mowing. This brushless motor model from the house of Bosch is another ideal option for small urban lawns. Once set up, its intelligent LogiCut navigation system calculates the most efficient mowing pattern before setting off on its first cut. Shop LawnMaster® - manufactured by Cleva. You also need to lay a boundary wire around the edge of the area you want your robot to mow. This is usually supplied on a reel, is connected to the charging station at both ends and carries a low voltage, which the mower uses to detect when to stop and turn around. You can bury this wire, or peg it down and eventually it will bed down into the grass.

An affordable drop and mow robot that’s incredibly easy to use

Edge cutting: No robot mower can edge your lawn as well as you can but some can trim closer to your flower beds than others. To reduce secondary mowing, look out for models with offset blades. Mechanically, most robot lawn mowers are surprisingly similar. In your garden they look a bit like a tiny car, about the same size as an upturned washing-up bowl, with two large wheels to control movement and one or two coasters to add stability. They tend to cut the grass with sharp steel blades that closely resemble razor blades, which you will find attached to a spinning disc on the underside of the mower’s chassis. Are they difficult to set up? So, choose a machine that comes with a smartphone app, so that you can control from virtually anywhere. Some of the models also offer voice control that you can execute using an assistant like Alexa or Google Home. Every time I test a lawnmower I leave my lawn to grow to around 4 inches (100mm) to give it a good test. The Lawnmaster L10 has varied cutting heights from 20-60mm, so I set the first run at 60mm using the large orange twist handle. This has markings for different heights, but felt a little clunky when changing heights, but it worked effectively.

Like most robot mowers the L10 uses three small blades to cut the grass and they did a decent job. But – there’s always a but isn't there – the mower uses a random pattern which we found confusing. And, if we didn’t leave running long enough it missed small patches of grass. The first time we left it running for 30 mins to get the lawn in a decent state. For consecutive cuts we dropped the cutting height to 20 mm and ran for about 15-20 mins. ADJUSTABLE CUTTING HEIGHT: Choose from cutting heights of between 20mm and 60mm for a neat looking lawn. For best performance and to encourage healthy lawn growth use 60mm for longer grass and after regular mowing, gradually reduce the cutting height to your desired length. Even that has not going smoothly. They gave me s number which was not correct for DPD to turn up and collect the machine and a time slot. DPD did not turn up.

Keeping your grass trimmed doesn’t have to spoil your weekend; the best robot lawn mowers will do the job for you

Three sharp blades cut the grass well and are really easy to replace when needed. (Image credit: Steven Jenkins) How well does the LawnMaster L10 cut? Gardena Sileno City is one of those machines that you might try. It has a very simple and helpful programming assistant that not only guides you to set the mower but also shows you a mowing plan based on the inputs. It’s not necessary to follow the inbuilt mowing programs, there are options for manual instructions as well. If you own a small land, then try a mower with 15 or 16 cm blade. Mowers with 17 cm or bigger blades are better for large areas. All the mowers cut the grasses into tiny pieces and leave them on the ground that fertilizes the grasses. Moreover, you don’t have to worry about the disposal of these clippings.

As you can see in my video review, the LawnMaster L10 benefits from a PIN system. This means that no unauthorised access to the robotic mower will be possible and makes theft nigh on impossible. The Worx Landroid M500 Plus WR165E reduces this problem. The spinning disc that the cutting blades are attached to is offset from the centre, closer to the side of the mower, which lets it cut closer to edges. It doesn’t eliminate the problem completely, but if you lay your boundary wires carefully, you can minimise the extra work that’s left behind. The Landroid mower utilizes all the latest technologies to complete the lawn mowing session without much interference. No matter you own an odd-shaped yard or there are multiple obstacles in between the grasses, the mower gives you neat and precise results. Once the machine is ready, you can simply leave it on the grass bed and spent time to finish other tasks.Robotic lawn mowers are becoming ever more popular and in the last few months, boundary wireless models are flying off the shelves. However, the problem is that many of these GPS mowers are incredibly expensive. So, if you’re looking to just test the water, spending all of that money can feel like a no go.
