About this deal

The eqiva smart radiator valve claims that it can save you up to 30% on your heating bills, which would be higher than the 10-12% savings that Nest claim you’ll have with their Learning Thermostat. In the past, we have used a basic manual-controlled TRV on the loft radiator, which runs from our gas-fired central heating system with the TR set to turn off once the temperature reaches a set point. The radiator is located next to the loft hatch, so hot air from the rest of the house would rise past the TRV and radiator, which resulted in the set temperature not working correctly. With a digitally controlled TRV, we can now add a temperature offset to prevent the valve and radiator and change its settings based on the other Zigbee temperature sensor in the loft.

Since launch, Tado has updated the apps and web interface to add a new heating scheduler, so you can choose the home temperature that you want hour by hour. There are also options for when you’re out – choose from maximum savings (which may mean you return to a colder home) or maximum comfort (you’ll spend more to keep your home warmer). The app is simple to use, making the Tado Smart Thermostat one of the easiest systems to program.Introducing TCP’s range of smart radiator valves - giving you complete control of your heating system. Simply connect to your home WiFi, screw off your old radiator valve and replace with the TCP WiFi Radiator Valve. With the free TCP smart app you can automate your heating using your smartphone. When compared to standard thermostatic radiator valves, the smart alternative is a great upgrade. The added convenience of simply programming schedules as well as other intuitive functionality make them a worthwhile investment. However, it’s important to note that they may require a smart system/controller and they aren’t standalone. This is due to the internet connection requirement, which allows them to be remotely controlled via a smartphone app.

These monitor a room’s temperature, and will only allow hot water into the radiator (i.e. only allow the radiator to ‘turn on’) if the ambient temperature is low enough. Please note some larger products are delivered to kerb-side (the street outside your home), it is at the drivers discretion if they can deliver the item to another location on the property. This is where your heating system could truly become smart: a smart thermostat that truly learns your schedules and routines, combined with smart valves so that you can have room-by-room control of things. This is a smart heating system that would actually be useful (as you can tell, I’m not a fan of smart thermostats in a single zone!). The boiler branded heating controls are quite expensive, although the Worcester Easy comes with upto 10 years of manufacturer’s guarantee when fitted with a compatible Worcester boiler
