Robust atomic time solar power plus many other goodies. Excellent price delivery speed extended warranty. It even matters if you wear it on the left wrist – sensor directed inwards the sleeve, so warmer – or right – sensor directed outwards to the air. It makes about a 4 degrees Celsius difference. Also direct sunlight influences it. The temperature is shown in the small lcd-screen in the dial. I already mentioned that this is not the best screen in the world. Every time I need it for reading one of its functions, I need to get close to the screen and quite often get the hands out of the way by pressing the Lower Left and Light buttons. After a while this starts to irritate. At night the lcd-screen is a bit better when I use the light. The temperature can be calibrated. The temperature sensor measures between -10 and +60 degrees. And because it has been internationally agreed that the air pressure at sea level is 1013 millibars and that sea level is 0 meters, you can easily convert air pressure to altitude. One remark I should make: the official unit for pressure is hectoPascals and not millibar (1 millibar = 1 hectoPascal (hPa) and that is why the Mudmaster displays hPa. The catch It’s a striking watch. This thing can survive just about any type of beating you can throw at it, and it looks the part. The GWG-1000, in particular, is one of Casio's peak achievements in 30 years - a historic watch in the progress of the brand. Casio has provided all the information on the dial itself, making it easy to access the watch features without any struggle. Besides looks, the Gulfmaster also comes with moon and tide graph features which the Mudmaster doesn't have. Like Mudmaster, there are two versions of the Gulfmaster available – premium GWN-1000B and the more affordable GN1000B-1A - with similar feature differences (Twin/Triple Sensor, No Solar/Tough Solar, etc.). So… it is bulletproof for your outdoor adventures and the buttons are usable with cold hands and even with gloves. Remains the question: how good is its outdoor functionality? Before I have a clear answer on this, I need to talk a bit more about the barometer, the altimeter and the compass and the Triple Sensor. Triple sensor You can actually be carefree if this watch falls into water or hits steel doors, or table/wall corners. This is because Casio has designed the watch with a series of gaskets and pipes, which completely seal the buttons and the crown that controls the watch. I'm getting ahead of myself here, but you should also consider the GW-9400 Rangeman alongside the Mudmasters if you haven't yet. The Rangeman has got nearly the same features as the more expensive GWG-1000 –Triple Sensor, Tough Solar, Atomic Time Sync & more – but retails at roughly 1/3 the price of the more expensive Mudmaster.
A Compass function with in-built direction sensor, magnetic declination calibration, and course indicator guides you through your adventures The watch's dial is illuminated by a LED light and is protected by a sapphire crystal, which as per Casio cannot be scratched. It also ensures high visibility under virtually any conditions imaginable. During my usage, I did not struggle to read the information on dial, however the intensity of the light is quite low. It is not even able to light up half of the dial, which is a bit low-down. A look at GWD- 1000 will immediately tell you that it is indeed built up with high quality material (Steel and Resin) and you would love to sport it on your wrist. The watch comes with an armoured tool casing, which makes GWD-1000 look like a 'Hummer' to the world of 'Beetle' sized smartwatches. Does everything it says it can and then does more a truly awesome watch. Great service and reviewed my new watch lightning fast I would definitely recommend and would shop here again.For the compass to be accurate, you need to calibrate it often, preferably every time before you go out on for a hike. The calibration process is simple and takes roughly 1 minute. The watch also allows you to set your magnetic declination, which you should do if you want maximum accuracy. GWG-1000 Cons: May be too large for smaller wrists. No sunrise and sunset time like the Rangeman GW-9400.
