A Soul for Revenge is the second book in the Souls Trilogy. It is an enemies to lovers, age gap, dark romance with trauma, banter, revenge, fear, and anger. I wasn't as interested in the plot as with book one and was able to see what was coming next for the most part. However, I didn't hate it and did find myself enjoying it mostly. Started off my spooky season with Leon, and it most definitely did not disappoint. I went into this not sure how I would feel, but I ate this up. This book absolutely slayed! Not only does he absolutely ADORE her soft side but also her raging, revengeful side!! Like bro got turned on upon seeing her kill someone!! How ICONIC!! But I get him, reading about how she killed Kent was so freaking badass, if I was him I would’ve dropped on my knees for her (which he actually did lmao)!! As I mentioned in my review of Her Soul to Take, most romance books with horror themes don't hit it for me as a horror lover, but Harley Laroux gets it. The horror elements, the demon lore, the violence and descriptions of these awful beasties in the woods, all of it is so on point and I love it. It has the best folk horror vibes and I'm here for it always. If you're a horror lover who's considering trying out romance (or a romance lover who's considering trying out horror!), I genuinely feel like this series is a fantastic merging of the two. I think I had psyched myself up too much for expecting a perfect retelling as I really LIKED the first book. It was such a perfect and great balance between the sex and plot and the plot KEPT ME SOOO HOOKED! But for Revenge, I found myself not really caring about almost anything. The plot felt very repetitive, and not just because we were repeating the same timeline but because a lot of the kink, characterisation and "smart mouth" dialogue was just almost rinsing and repeating Leon and Rae. While I really did enjoy the banter and sex, I guess I wanted more "newness" or aspects uncovered in the plot, but these were never delivered. I already knew what was gonna happen, every twist and turn was already done and mapped out and there was nothing amazing added (besides an epic nightclub)Content warnings for: BDSM, kink/fetish content, drug use, violence, assault, torture, murder, imprisonment, anxiety, PTSD, piercing play, knife play, grief, sibling loss I have absolutely no connection with Juniper, she is so one-dimensional and driven by "one thing and one thing only" and that is her anger which is her major motivation for revenge. I understand that she has been through a lot and she has had so much thrown upon her and while there are glimpses of those scars and the damage that was done; besides her being afraid and then being angry, there’s nothing really in between her personality. She also never really works through her anger much, besides through bloody stabby stab-stab and "spank me harder" Daddy, often both at the same time. I am not here to judge a girl on her therapy being "painful pleasure" but I wanted more of an emotional working through her damage. Hence why I AM THE PROBLEM, as this would be amazing if you are happy to read about a girl who just wants that hard physical pounding that almost miraculously solves her trauma because she had a couple of intense demonic-induced orgasms

The fact that Leon stayed with Rae and protected her even after he found the grimour bearing in mind She hadnt taken the deal of giving her soul meant everything. Taking her soul for Leon was important because demons possessed and he wanted Rae to stay immortal with him forever. The fact that he stayed showed how much affection he had towards Rae as he hated earth because of all the torture and captivity he faced due to the hadelighs HOW CAN WE NOT LOVE LEON I also had one of the worst episodes of insomnia last night, which means I had some time on my hands and basically devoured this.

Her Soul To Take is so filled with dirty and dark stuff I found myself shrugging and nodding (and also panting a little) at the craziest stuff that happened y the end of it. Callum growled at my suggestion, an angry dog worried over his bone. It was a silly thing to suggest anyway: Everly had clearly already given him her soul. Souls weren’t able to be offered in parcels, it was all or nothing. Her Soul to Take blew my mind when I read it two months ago. To say my expectations were high for Her Soul For Revenge would be an understatement. Laroux absolutely nailed this story to perfection. She had already laid a pretty solid foundation with book 1 and I was one hundred percent invested with these characters and in this paranormal world of hers. I feel almost dirty giving this book the 3 Star rating because I know that it's entirely me and my expectations that's the problem and not the book.I stood over her, her wide eyes defiant and terrified as they looked up, and I smiled with a mouthful of sharp teeth. “Run.” Nooow, their sex?! Wheew! Listen, when I tell you Zane banged her with a gun!!! I'm not talking about a shot! It was hot hot hooot and I loved it, their scenes showed their personalities and it was so good to read through. I loved their playfulness. this grabbed from the beginning. the first few chapter were just insanity in the best way. so enticing. Leon, I’ll always love you. But both Zane and Juniper have officially stolen your spotlight and I’m not even sorry. And to be fair, Juniper is scarier than you are, maybe she can give you a crash course? The development Harley Laroux has done within one year is INTENSE. I loved The Dare and Her soul to take, don’t get me wrong, but she’s upped her game profoundly and I can’t wait to see her future works
