About this deal

Secrets, lies, jealousy and betrayal… Elegantly structured and infused with a creeping sense of dread’SARAH VAUGHAN Wanted: full-time live-in nanny position. Experience with children is a must. Free room and board. Serious inquiries only.”

Haunted by loss, she grew up bitter and distant -only returning to her family home in desperation after the unexpected death of her husband. The characters and side characters were wonderful and this book had some excellent banter that had me smiling and giggling the entire time. Those were basically my only two notes because this book was the best time. The Nanny (and the Daddy) was literally so hot and so perfect!!! Lana Ferguson has a forever fan in me. Her next book is a complete swerve into shifter romance but I sure will be reading it. The teaser was already addictive and I need answers!!

I liked the story. It’s a straight-forward plot with good writing and only snippets of dialogue. The novel won France’s Prix Goncourt in 2016. The title is confusing because it was published as Chanson Douce (Sweet Song) in France and as Lullaby in the UK. Now, thirty years later, Jo is returning to her family home with her daughter in tow – just as human remains are pulled out of the house's lake.It was the murder of two children by their nanny. Happened on 25 October 2012 and the details are here

So who is the real evil? Who is the biggest liar? Had the nanny resurrected or is she a doppelganger? What Virginia is hiding from her daughter? Two, it brilliantly delineates the crammed together but world’s apart lives of the rich couple and the nanny and the underlying toxic nature of the relationship which starts rather tentatively, grows closer and more loving by the week and then begins to rot from the inside. This is the soul of Lullaby and why it’s worth reading. The very exact same thing is explored from a male point of view in the well-known novel The White Tiger, a story of a chauffeur in India, perpetually 18 inches apart from his employer, but in reality 400 million light years between them. In that novel too there is an act of murder unleashed by the servant. year-old Aiden Reid is an executive Chef with an extremely busy schedule and a adorable 9-year-old she-devil of a child who ran off her the last 4 nannies. Aiden struggles between making time to take care of his daughter and running the kitchen at the fancy restaurant he works at. He's hopeful the next Nanny will be the one.Smart, fun, sexy, and sizzling with romantic tension, TheNanny is a mouthwateringly delicious take on second chances with a healthy dash of steam.I can’t wait for more from Lana Ferguson!”—Sara Desai, author of The Singles Table The writing is smooth, yet spare. Leila Slimani has won many writing awards in her home country of France and it is easy to see why. I love this style of writing with one omniscient narrator telling the story in a simple, almost hypnotic manner. The short book is absolutely riveting and compulsively readable. Overall, A wonderful romance with really solid story and character development. I definitely recommend this one for fans of the genre. The word 'silly' is overly used. Whenever Cassie uses this word, she makes herself seem juvenile and dumb.

We see Louise through the eyes of others. Her bosses who she both desires and despises. The children who she both smothers yet inflicts small cruelties. The neighbor, the landlord, the boyfriend. They all see what they want to see....ignoring her loneliness, her poverty, her next disintegration. Crawford died at Hawkhill House (a nursing home in Aberdeen) on 11 February 1988. Neither the Queen, the Queen Mother nor Princess Margaret sent a wreath to her funeral. [5] He’s a chef! He’s extremely hot! And Cassie feels like she knows him from somewhere! And interestingly after having her worst kind of humiliating interview, Aiden still wants her to accept the job and meet with her tough cookie nine years old daughter Sophie who recently loses her mother. ( Don’t worry! Aiden was not married with the mother of Sophie. They had an one night stand ten years ago and they decided to stay friends for sharing custody. ) However, the Queen did give a carefully qualified approval for her to anonymously provide some assistance, writing:Ah yes, here we are with another domestic thriller . There seems to be a rash of books about naughty-nannies lately, yet this trend keeps going strong because it’s ripe for creativity. The figure of the nanny is an easy one to exploit in fiction because it’s essentially a stranger who enters the heart of a family, given an enormous amount of trust, and in many cases lives right in the home alongside everyone else; what could possibly go wrong? The writing is fantastic, however. My favorite parts of this novel is the author's prose, with the only exception being that sometimes the chapters became choppy with whose point of view we were supposed to be in. I'm not sure if that is lost in the translation of the novel or not. Either way, you definitely cannot take away from her talent. I can understand why she won the Goncourt award. Leila Slimani’s style reminds me of the first novel I read by Emily St. John Mandel called “Last Night In Montreal”. Very ‘clean’ writing - also eerie and puzzling. Soon, Louise is deeply-embedded in every aspect of their lives and it is hard to imagine being without her. But... as they grow more closely-entwined than ever, Louise often becomes a burden. Too perfect. Too intense. Strange things start happening and Myriam begins to wonder if there is a darker side to this perfect nanny. The Nanny is a compelling, character-centric mystery-thriller. This novel dissects the fraught relationship between a mother and daughter precipitated by the departure of a beloved nanny. But beyond domestic politics, Gilly Macmillan’s The Nanny highlights the divide between the elite and the commoners. It also explores the effect of childhood trauma and how far we will go to protect those we love.
