The characters in "Our Thing" are charismatic with bold personalities that tug at your heartstrings. I quite enjoyed the contrast between Cassidy, the district's sweetheart, and the total alpha male vibe from the district's most notorious bad boy Max Butcher. "Our Thing" is good girl meets bad boy, District style and I loved every minute of it. no cheating on each other while together - the h cheats on her fiance with the H when they first see each other again after a TEN YEAR separation. I also want to mention I really enjoyed the balletic details scattered throughout. It’s clear Nicci Harris is either a former dancer, or she just really put a lot of time into her research. Either way, brava!
In heat?? Gross. That’s another thing with this book. Most of the dialogue was cringy like extremely cringy. The way the sex scenes were written, the “sex talk”. It was bad.Bronson is in Darwin sorting out his bosses nephew. He’s then taken into hospital after being shot in the chest. When he awakes and hears a familiar voice he’s on his feet walking towards it. Despite the nurse telling him to stop. He pins the owner of the voice to the wall and sees her amber eyes. He can’t believe she’s here. After all these years. After searching to no avail. She’s here. These two are just… freaking perfect for each other. Shoshanna was forced into a little box of normality where she thought she was taking the safe road, one that was stable and would bring her happiness… but she’s utterly miserable, and it takes Bronson crashing into her life again for her to finally realize what she’s been missing all this time.

This one had the slight edge for me on the previous book in the series and this one unlike the first is definitely set firmly in the criminal underbelly. This is Cassidy Slater and Max Butchers story Cassidy is the baby Sister of Konnor and Max is a key player in the district. Ch30 of book1 Our thing,deserves special mention because until then the story was oscillating between romance and the sneak peeks of mafia in the District and what secrets lay therein..but this chapter...this chapter explained "A thief is a criminal until he's stealing to feed his kin. A neglectful mother is a bad mother until she is working two jobs to give her children the best opportunities. A gun is terrifying until it's what's keeping you safe, and then you're terrified without it." which Cassidy thinks in a chapter long before this one...The way she was frozen but later stood up for herself and like desperate times call for desperate measures?,she just did it!I loved her more in this chapter. Max Butcher. I could not stand the way Cassidy spoke. She sounded like a young teenager, which made the steamy parts of this book a little weird. I couldn’t put this book down. There is drama, mystery, steamy, passionate sex & LOVE of epic proportions.
I adore Max and Cassidy and 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠! Cassidy is sweet, considerate and talented. She wears her heart on her sleeves, Max on the flip side is hard to read. He is also known to be a playboy and claims he doesn’t do monogamy, yet he is different around his 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐞. He has a soft spot for her and can’t stay away from her though he knows he should. That term of endearment makes me swoon every time he says it 😍 It’s been a day since I finished this book and I am still not okay. This second chance romance does end happily it’s just a really hard fought one and my heart literally breaks thinking about all the hurt that the MMC Bronson endures.
