About this deal

The Sage Nutri Juicer Plus is definitely a pricey option. If you’re looking for a simple juicer that gets the job done, the Dualit Juice Extractor is almost as good at a more affordable price. The Sage Nutri Juicer Plus has a pleasant, substantial feel to it, without actually being too heavy. Its grey plastic details, pulp bin and plunger complement the round stainless-steel body and feed chute. The transparent lid and bowl let you observe the machine’s centrifugal process.

Once you’ve finished juicing, the Nutri Juicer Cold Plus easily comes apart for efficient cleaning, and the jug and pulp bin can both go in the dishwasher. A machine that suits your daily routine is the best way to encourage you to make juicing a habit, so it’s a good idea not to buy on price alone. Instead, consider how much value different features will add to your new juicing regime. What are the different types of juicer? Because it's a cold press juicer this machine works very slowly. It also has a sensitivity to seeds and skin, so we found that there was a lot of prep needed to get a quality glass of juice. On the plus side though, it's a very quiet machine, and most of the parts can go in the dishwasher. The price is also very reasonable for a cold press juicer.

Place the juicer jug under the juice spout on the right hand side of the juicer, and place the lid to avoid splatter. Next, we tried some soft fruit – strawberries. Again, the processing was lightning fast and the juice had an even, consistent texture with some foam. Some smaller pieces of fruit had spun off the blades and into the pulp bin without being processed but the majority of the fruit was juiced. Moving onto harder fruit, we added large chunks of peeled pineapple. This required the food pusher to be used to ease the fruit towards the blades but relatively little pressure was needed. The juicer handled the chunks well but after processing, there were a couple of small slivers that had been thrown clear of the blades. Place motor base on a flat, dry surface such as a bench top. Ensure that the juicer is switched to OFF at the dial, and the power cord is unplugged. This juicer comes with a handy jug that's marked with measurements at the side. We used it to make a mix of smooth and more frothy drinks, from celery juice (not a favourite) to apple and ginger. When we encountered a lot of foam this wasn't a concern, because the clever central panel in the 1.25 litre jug catches any froth as you pour, meaning you're left with a smooth fresh drink. This is a noisy option and we found that it juices incredibly fast, even with solid veggies such as carrot.

We assess how easy each pulp container is to empty and how easy it is to handwash, using any supplied cleaning brushes when doing so. There are two main types of juicers: masticating, and centrifugal. A centrifugal juicer is often cheaper, and mimics the best blender in shredding fruits and vegetables using blades. The is then strained away from the pulp, and poured directly into your glass. A masticating juicer, also known as a cold press juicer, will slowly remove the juice from fruits by replicating a hand-juicing motion. This can be more expensive, but it will leave the fibres in your drink intact, which means they are often seen as a healthier choice. It’s key to choose a machine that’s easy to use and maintain. Time spent assembling and cleaning can become a reason not to juice regularly. Look for those that can be put together easily and have a non-drip spout. Ideally, they should have dishwasher-safe parts or dedicated brushes for clearing fibres and residue from mesh filters. The centrifugal Nutri Juicer Cold XL iseasy to assemble, feels reassuringly robust, cuts down on chopping with its 88mm chute (which can accommodate whole apples) and everything can go in the dishwasher, with the exception of the pusher, or be rinsed in seconds. The compact footprint of this juicer belies the fact it has a larger feed chute of 88mm, a 2 litre XL juicing jug and is up to five times faster at extracting two litres of juice than a cold press juicer. High quality materials are used throughout this machine including the stainless steel juicing basket, titanium reinforced cutting disk and Italian micro mesh filter. A cleaning brush is also supplied, but components are dishwasher safe for effective and thorough cleaning. Rinse all parts after use (except the motor base) under running water to clear away the majority of juice and pulp. Wash in warm soapy water with a soft cloth. Juicing at high speeds – such as at setting ‘5’ – is a fine balance between using the plunger to stop ingredients from flying out and avoiding plunging down too hard. When juicing tough veg such as beetroot or parsnips, I instinctively wanted to press the plunger down a bit. However, this meant juice started leaking from the rim of the lid.

But the Froojie disc does add value, enabling the Nutri Juicer Plus to function as a blender/food processor to some extent. So if you’re keen to make delicious fruit purees for smoothies and desserts – or you simply want a machine that will look like the real professional deal in your kitchen – the Sage Nutri Juicer Plus won’t disappoint. Verdict Helpfully, the manual provides detailed instructions as to which fruits can be pureed, and which speed setting to use when juicing in general. While the LCD screen already makes suggestions at the turn of the knob, the manual is more thorough, informing you of correct speeds for juicing cauliflower and Brussel sprouts. (Yum?)The best juicers typically get 15% more juice out of the fruit and veg compared to the worst on test. Place the pulp container into position by tilting the motor base slightly to the right. Insert the pulp container under the juicer cover on the left hand side ensuring it is supported by the juicer cover and motor base. The control panel of the Nutri Juicer Plus includes an on/off switch, a clear LCD speed indicator and a speed control dial. All are straightforward to use because every turn of the dial lights up different suggestions for juicing, from soft fruit at setting ‘1’ to hard veg, apple and pineapple at setting ‘5’. Disappointingly, the Nutri Juicer Plus doesn’t come with any recipes. While recipes aren’t essential, considering Sage works closely with celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal, it’s a missed opportunity for presenting some creative concoctions.

Made from brushed stainless steel, this sleek space-saving machine is cleverly designed with the pulp bin located behind the unit for better use of your worktop space. Start saving up now for this gorgeous, design-led masticating juicer. In contrast to all the contemporary versions on the market, this machine combines retro curves with modern technology – but it comes with a premium price tag. As with most masticating juicers we found that it performed much better when we chopped up the ingredients before juicing, because it would struggle to get through apple skin or orange pips. However, it's a sturdy choice that impressed us with how quiet it was during operation. Our juice had a higher pulp content than most, but it was low in froth because of the slow speeds when juicing. Sage are expert at designing kitchen appliances with cleverly integrated functions to take the stress out of cooking. Their range of smart appliances, which includes kettles, toasters, and blenders, through to their ice cream maker and microwaves, has been exactingly considered to give you perfect results every time, all at the push of a button. Whether its prepping, boiling, whisking, whipping, grilling, cooking and baking, thanks to Sage, cooking has never been so easy.Never use fingers, hands or utensils to push food down the feed chute or to clear the feed chute. Always use the food pusher provided. Hard fruit and vegetables will put excess strain onto the motor if a low speed is selected. Refer to the juicing guide to determine the correct speed for the fruit and vegetables selected for juicing. Hold the filter basket under running water and use brush (supplied with the juicer) in a circular motion to clear away pulp from the inside of the basket, including the blades. Turn over to brush away pulp from the outside of the basket, and repeat if necessary. Anti-drip spout The spout should stop any remaining juice inside the machine from dripping onto your worktop after you've finished juicing. Look out for a drip-stop spout – this works by flipping upwards and tends to be the most effective.
