When you think World Eaters, you think Berserkers. Uncontrolled, unrelenting, and unhinged, the World Eaters were completely subsumed by the Butcher’s Nails after Isstvan and thought of nothing but the next kill. This Rite reflects that.The World Eaters are one of my favourite Legions to play against – you end up in a desperate scrabble to try to gun them down before they hit you, and then it comes down to a Marine-on-Marine fight in the dirt. It screams “Horus Heresy” to me! After one of your units destroys and enemy unit in the fight phase, make a Blessings of Khorne roll and activate a Blessing – it doesn’t count towards the maximum number of activated Blessings. Lead the World Eaters on the charge with Lord Invocatus, a named warlord who plunges into battle from the burning skies atop his personal Juggernaut mount Khal’guruth. His artificer chain-axe, Coward’s Bane, reaps a tremendous tally of skulls, and if the force of Khorne’s Thunderbolt isn’t a fit for your warband, you can also assemble this miniature as a regular Khorne Lord on Juggernaut. Exalted Eightbound Following the Isstvan campaign, the World Eaters became a roving force, murdering their way towards Terra. Horus directed Angron towards Ultramar, the blessed realm of Guilliman, and the World Eaters are then best known for their work in the Shadow Crusade with Lorgar. Between them, the Word Bearers and World Eaters, slaughtered billions in the Five Hundred Worlds, killing numerous planets such as Armatura and, eventually, Nuceria.

Generally you’ll be able to use these powers to tailor your army’s approach to the situation at hand. Early on you’ll want to focus on rage-fueled invigoration and unbridled bloodlust, when being able to +2” move advance and charge can help your army close those gaps, and then later on you’ll want to look at melee buffs to ensure you can take down bigger targets. And if you need to play defensively, FNP and Fight on Death are there as well. Detachment Rules In many ways these subfactions were the model for the Detachment system we see in 10th edition; each subfaction had its own stratagems and relics which did not overlap. We expect the Disciples of the Red Angel to return as a World Eaters Detachment in due course for 10th edition. The World Eaters who fought at the siege of the Emperor’s palace on Terra were a horde of ravening madmen, their minds utterly consumed by the agonising hatred of the butcher’s nails and the insidious bloodlust of the war God Khorne.

I would say perhaps a set of them with the Fleshbane whips could see some use, I guess, but otherwise.. I have to say, give them a miss. They are outshined by their own basic Troops! The Exalted Eightbound take the over the top Eightbound and push them fifty feet out of the roof, giving them all paired chainfists if you please. World Eaters Land Raider Alongside the Space Wolves their warriors are some of the deadliest close combat fighters in the galaxy, amongst whom are counted large numbers of the infamous Khorne Berserkers. Why Play World Eaters

Overally, Surlak is an amazing support character for a mere 110pts. I would say he is an easy “must-take” for the 4+ Feel No Pain alone, but the Inductii are an amazing add-on as well. He is very popular in World Eaters lists, for good reason. To take this Rite, you cannot use any Slow and Purposeful or Immobile units, and cannot take fortifications or allies. You also give up an extra VP for any failed objective in Attrition and/or Linebreaker Secondary Objectives, so make sure you kill the enemy, and get across the board!Khorne Berzerkers make up the mainstay of a World Eaters force, barrelling across the battlefield in a crimson tide with chainblades roaring a bloodthirsty orison to the Blood God’s might. They combine the armoured durability of a Space Marine with the strength and skill of true battle maniacs, and can whip up a startling Blood Surge of speed once an enemy attracts their ire.**
