About this deal

The erect prism in the gimbal system is constantly stabilised when the electronic gyro sensor detects vibration, providing vibration correction at a wider range of angles than any other system. Waterproof user-friendly design

It comes from a yachting location and the shop says the rubber had gone white in places, but they seem to have done good job cleaning off the white and only small traces remain. Hot on the heels of the announcement of Canon’s new compact IS binoculars, the other major player in this specialized niche, Fujifilm has just announced the release of their new Fujinon TECHNO-STABI TS-X 14x40 Image Stabilized Binoculars. These Fujinons impressed me because they have stabilization as well as the sharpness of the other high-end non-stabilized binoculars. They are the best of both worlds. They don't get softer with stabilization ON. I bought the 10X42L IS a year ago and they are superb. I have looked through quite a few binoculars and have not seen any that would compare. The moon is absolutely amazing to look at with contrast and resolution exceeding any binocs I have looked through. The initial cost was high and I was skeptical. But, believe me, the view is phenomenal. You can put the full moon just out of the field and not see any light creep. Stars are points to the field's edge. No color that I can see. For day use you can focus up to 6 or 8 feet. No vignetting at all. My old 10X50's are no comparison. The light trough put is vastly more than with the 10X50's. You can look at a tree just a few feet away and see no color and excellent definition. So, I think, you get what you pay for. The eye relief on the Fujinon may be more than the Canons, so this means glasses wearers may be able to use it.BST overcast dull day after rain, drizzle and easterly wind. Top temp today 8C, 10days ago 28C. Central heating on. Not raining, 7C now. With a FOV of 263 ft wide when measured at a distance of 1000 yards, the Fujinon TECHNO-STABI 14x40 binoculars do well against other high powered instruments but is considerably less than you typical 10x or 8x instrument. Optical Coatings Everything we put into your VX-3HD is there to help you tag out. Like all Leupold riflescopes, it's designed, machined, and assembled in the USA and guaranteed for life. The Canon also displays some false colour when the variprisms are away from central. I haven't noticed this in the Fujinon.

After replacing the batteries that one time, it's now been several years as of October 2010 and the second set is still going strong. Also: the 10x30 IS II are noticeably less sharp (and have less contrast) than even my made in China Zeiss Terra ED's. So if color fidelity and contrast are important to you, the 10x42L IS is probably the way to go (it has ED/UD glass). The 18x50 also has UD glass, but the L is there for a reason. The Canon 18x50 IS has more CA particularly near the edges of a much wider AFOV. It is also bright in good light. The first pair of binoculars that caught my attention (and finally opened my wallet!) was, unbelievably, a VARIABLE POWER pair by Minox - and a high-power (10x-15x) pair at that! Who would have guessed?

So even though these Fujinon binoculars use very good quality optics and coatings, these will not be the ideal choice of instrument for low light use. The diopter adjust gave me problems. At first, I couldn't figure out where it was, until I noticed that the focus wheel pushed forward to reveal the calibration marks of the diopter setting. After figuring out where the diopter was, I couldn't get it to work AT ALL - until I finally figured out that it was the LEFT eye it was adjusting, not the right eye as most other binoculars are set up for. Once I overcame my two points of ignorance, everything worked perfectly - I had the diopter set within a few seconds, collapsed the focus knob again, and was ready to see what these binoculars could do! There is no sign of mistiness internally, but there is fine dust, which seems strange, perhaps from internal paint?

In our buying guides, we look for image stabilization binoculars that are of good construction and that can withstand the abuse of the day-to-day activity of birdwatching and wildlife spotting while maintaining a steady, judder-free image thanks to the built-in IS. Magnification is also a big factor and we like to offer a wide range to suit everyone's preference. Budget is also an indicator, and within this buying guide, you will find items to suit everyone's budget and needs. Fuji must have done this to make the eyecups look big like the rest of these tough-looking binoculars, but they don't fit my eyes.
