Research was commissioned by Samsung UK & Ireland and conducted via OnePoll and social enterprise Startup Sherpas. OnePoll surveyed 1,000 UK young people aged 16 to 25 in September 2023. Startup Sherpas polled 500 young people aged 13 – 16. Image courtesy of Andrea Cheong Your favourite product – and tell us why we can feel good about buying it? Cheong said: "The one problem that plagues all of us, no matter our age, income or even what we do for a living is, ’Why don’t I have anything to wear?’ Based on my five-step guide, this book finally presents the answer to this age-old question. It stems from the fact that when it comes to fashion, most people don’t know how to shop.

We Want A Pair Of Shoes From The SUPERGA x Drea Chong Collaboration!”. NYLON Singapore. June 21, 2018. Accessed on 29 February 2019. To launch this year’s Solve for Tomorrow initiative, Samsung held an event at Samsung KX, Coal Drop’s Yard on Thursday 14th September with Robert Halfon MP, Minister for Skills, Apprenticeships and Higher Education giving the keynote speech. TikTok sensation Stepz also took the stage for an exclusive performance followed by a panel discussion and workshops featuring insightful discussions from a range of exciting influencers. After doing a wardrobe audit, Cheong then advises you to do a budget review and set out your sustainability goals, before thinking about material composition and quality (the author regularly posts videos of herself assessing the designs of various brands). “All of these things help to inform an individual shopper how to shop best for themselves,” she explains. Nowadays, Cheong mostly buys vintage, as well as supporting independent designers – and has saved a significant amount of money doing so. “I think this is [a] more meaningful [way of shopping],” she explains. “I try to support young brands [that offer] really great quality.” Did you know that hardware costs more money and requires special machines? Increasingly, I've noticed more elastic and shirring techniques used to cut costs. But that's for another time. Let's chat about zips. A garment that's unlined should not have an exposed zip. Ideally, bias binding is used to conceal its edges. Lagom, the health and wellbeing imprint of Zaffre Publishing Group at Bonnier Books UK, has acquired Why Don’t I Have Anything to Wear? by Andrea Cheong. But before we get into it, there's one thing to note: flaws are fine, but it depends which ones. Damage to shoes is more or less expected, especially if the product listing doesn’t describe the item as "new with box" or "never worn". Some flaws are acceptable—for example, a scuff on real leather (patent leather is a no -no; it’s very difficult to restore) can be fixed if you’re willing to pay. Leather soles are extremely common with designer shoes and often, they need resoling, but this is still more affordable than buying a brand-new pair outright.

Andrea Chong was a student at Zhonghua Secondary School and Victoria Junior College. She furthered her studies in English Literature at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) but dropped her Literature degree to focus on her budding career as blogger-influencer. [7] Career highlights Andrea: Yeah, it was a very chilled job. I know the brand was really popular in Japan and I thought we were doing well. We had such a loyal customer base. People would come in and we’d recognise their faces, they’d remember your name and you really bonded with your customers. Menswear was doing fantastically well because having something like chinos doesn’t necessarily make you preppy. Andrea: I just started my internship which is three days a week, and I have a 10,000 word dissertation to write, I have so much to handle but it’s going to be worth it. Oddly enough, I get stressed out when I have nothing to do and I feel safer when I know I’m doing too much. I’m quite disciplined and self-motivated. But saying that, I haven’t actually posted that much on my blog recently.

of young people perceive the technology sector to be ‘competitive’, with 28% believing it’s only for people good at maths and science Aqil Haziq Mahmud. " Pioneering Duo". WKWSCI ALUMNI MAGAZINE. November 2015. Accessed on 3 April 2019. The research study of 1,000 young people aged between 16 and 25 was commissioned by Samsung UK to mark the re-launch of its Solve for Tomorrow initiative for 2023/24 – a programme designed to spur young people to unleash their inner potential by coming up with ways technology can solve society’s issues in four key areas: Sustainability, Education, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Health & Wellbeing. https://www.ons.gov.uk/employmentandlabourmarket/peopleinwork/employmentandemployeetypes/bulletins/jobsandvacanciesintheuk/march2023 I really appreciated the amount of research that went into the book, from details about materials and their manufacturing processes to quotes from businesses trying to operate more sustainably within the fashion world. The charts showing perceived quality using her method versus price were enlightening (although some detailed information on how she quantified "quality" would have been nice!). I definitely learned something new reading it, even though I've been following Andrea's content on social media for a while. I also found the book written in a very engaging way, and I definitely enjoy Andrea's sense of humour. Also, the illustrations in the book, all done by Andrea are beautiful and add to the reading experience.
