The 2022 hybrid festival will be streamed from Northumbria University on Tuesday 8 November and Wednesday 9 November, to coincide with COP27, providing a series of virtual events and live broadcasts. A full programme is now availablehere. Karl Lagerfeld’s contribution to the Fendi brand is perhaps best exemplified by his lightning-fast creation of the iconic “FF” Zucca logo. In just three seconds, Lagerfeld managed to infuse Fendi’s nearly century-old identity with a fresh and youthful energy. Of course, Lagerfeld’s lasting legacy at Fendi extends far beyond a simple logo redesign. From 1965 until his death in 2019, he served as the brand’s creative director, constantly pushing the boundaries of what the luxury label could achieve. While Kim Jones is now at the helm of Fendi, the brand’s bold and dramatic use of furs and leather remains a hallmark of the designer’s vision. Fendi stands alongside other legendary designer brands as a testament to Lagerfeld’s indelible influence on the fashion world. Non-designers will also be involved, including “doughnut economics” economist Kate Raworth. “The fundamental need for us all to redesign our lives”

Founded by Alfred Dunhill more than 120 years ago, this London designer brand has from a long day from its origins. Alfred inherited his father’s saddlery business, where he began developing leather car goods. Over the years, the family business entered into the luxury goods space, leading us to where it is today. It has become one of the industry’s oldest and largest top designer brands with menswear, leather goods, accessories, fragrances, and watches. The free-to-attend festival coincides with COP 28, taking place on Tuesday 17 October and Wednesday 18 October 2023 at the Enterprise Centre, University of East Anglia in Norwich. The Enterprise Centre was showcased as one of the world’s most sustainable buildings at COP 26, as it was constructed with low-carbon local materials, including pine and a recycled sand and aggregate concrete mix.

That’s the beauty of pre-loved.” Beyond the original Omega and the Montblanc, pre-loved favourites include a Tag Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph and a Breitling Premier B01 Chronograph. Secondly, the designer made use of circles and earthly colours such as cool blue and bone-white to ground the collection in the earth. The logo for the centre was made up of an eye and arrow symbol, which was designed by Hans Schleger, who became an integral part of London’s early 1930s avant garde design community and helped spread modernism across Britain. Inspired by Schleger’s process, Wallsgrove suggested recycling this classic design, a move that seemed in keeping with the principles behind Design for Planet.

The Design Council has revealed the Design for Planet Festival 2023 programme, featuring topics such as repairability, carbon reduction and mobility, with an overarching theme of collaboration. Balenciaga is a designer brand that originated in the Basque Country of Spain before relocating to France due to the Spanish Civil War. Known for their sleek and linear lines, Balenciaga’s designs went against the popular hourglass shape popularized by Christian Dior during the post-war era. The fashion house made waves in the 1950s with their revolutionary approach to women’s fashion and trademark styles such as the collar that deviated from the collar bone and the “bracelet sleeves.” In 2001, Balenciaga was acquired by French company Kering, which also owns other top designer brands including Yves Saint Laurent, Gucci, and Alexander McQueen. With continued impressive growth, Balenciaga remains a strong contender in the world of designer fashion. While most will think of luxury designers as haute couture or ready-to-wear, Derek Rose defies them all with its high-end loungewear and pajamas. The intimate apparel designer was founded in 1926, focusing on making the wearer feel relaxed and comfortable. In 1987, it received the Queen’s Award for Export Achievement and expanded its stores worldwide. Even 100 years later, its luxurious fabrics and effortless designs are intended for those who want to enjoy their free time. While Moll thinks last week’s festival was empowering, she stresses now is when the real work starts. She says the Design Council has a range of next steps, which it is looking to implement in the coming weeks and months.
