About this deal

The steering servo is mounted to the chassis and the speed controller is attached with the included double sided tape.

Nevertheless, no rehash will be quite the same as the original 1986 release, with all it’s pure California summertime logos, and 1980s technology! Requires: Radio Control System with 1 Servo, 7.2v Battery & Charger, suitable Paint for the Bodyshell (optional), Tools for Assembly. Be all of this as it may, though, this car maintains its modern collectability due to its durable design and unique, scale look.Left: Take a closer look at the complex drivetrain, shown here in this profile view of the chassis.

Just got to fit the massive rear bumper and the gold rims and tyres. The tyres are made from a medium stiffness rubber and they have spikes for that extra bite on rough surfaces. The front wheels fit on the axles via some 1150 bearings. The rear wheels are not a standard 12mm hex fitting, but they feel secure on their plastic wheel mounts. This radio controlled model features an all new 1/14 scale, stylised version of the timeless Volkswagen Beetle Body, mounted on the new all-action 4WD GF-01TR chassis fitted out with big tyres for rough and tumble off-road fun. This updated version promises to be great fun for both beginners and Tamiya R/C kit veterans alike! Steel brace for the servo saver, which necessitated longer upper screw pins for the upper front suspension arms Whoa~ Quite a lot going on in this photo.. a slipper clutch mod? plastic insert shape that follows the shape of the transmission.. threaded rod and nuts suggest a different motor mount position(perhaps larger pinion) as well. Do tell us more!

The chassis uses a double-wishbone front with trailing arm rear suspension setups that work in tandem with the CVA oil dampers.

And combining their high-rise, go anywhere looks with the evergreen shape of a VW Beetle resulted in yet another hit for the Japanese model company Tamiya. gear ratio (with the kit-standard 18T pinion gear) gives great drive. The model is also compatible with 20T pinion gears (for a 33.61:1 gear ratio).

Aside from all the obviously excellent body details, right down to the silver VW badge on the bonnet, one of the most noticeable features of the Monster Beetle are it’s gold wheels and the introduction of the large, pin spike tyres that it uses. It was the first Tamiya model to use these particular tyres and wheels. They’re quite tall and soft, which means they are quite flabby under hard cornering and a bit bouncy as well. But this is part of the joy of old 1980s R/C cars – big, soft tyres that look great and work best when digging through sand dunes. As you can see the car comes in a box with the classic artwork, instantly making me remember staring at them sitting on the shelves of my local hobby shop. Once you take a look inside the fantastic looking VW shell will jump out at you, along with the gold rims and spiked tyres. So after 30 years I was now finally able to build one :)

These old videos often used to appear on TV sets in Hobby Shops, as in-store promotion to help tempt customers. Now we attach it to the chassis. The whole thing is feeling really solid now and the chassis is looking very distinctive. Something that gives these re-releases some of their retro charm. Also, install aluminum spacers on the ball ends of the left and right steering axle. You will need a ball end as shown. Or, you can use extended-length ball ends by Tamiya. wheel independent suspension uses CVA oil dampers, and has double wishbone front and trailing arm rear setups.Depictions of engine and muffler are also metal-plated parts. The body also features a sporty roll bar. I used .1mm, or 2mm, or .3mm shims to remove play in the front suspension arms (I prefer less shake and wobble) The rugged ABS space-frame chassis fromthe original model (58060) has remained. The chassis uses a double-wishbone front with trailing arm rear suspension setups that work in tandum with the CVA oil dampers. The 52T spur is next, which sits on a solid steel shaft. You also then strengthen the plastic gearbox with hollow steel tubes which will ensure it keeps straight once you mount the other metal plate.
