About this deal

If the battery monitor is connected to a GX device, such as the Cerbo GX or the ColorControl GX, the battery can be monitored locally with the GX device or remotely via the VRM portal.

The main function of the battery monitor is to follow and indicate the state of charge of a battery, to be able to know how much charge the battery contains and to prevent an unexpected total discharge. The SmartShunt can do more than comprehensively monitor your main battery bank – additionally you can choose to either:

We only stock batteries we would use in our own electrical system.

Siphon regulatory devices: their role in the treatment of hydrocephalus. Neurosurg Focus. 2007; 22( 4):1–8. [ PubMed] [ Google Scholar] The SmartShunt is a powerful battery monitor with Bluetooth on board. It can be installed out of sight, behind the scenes – whilst live data from the device is relayed to your mobile phone or laptop via the VictronConnect App, which is free to use.

That said however, what I can't do from that distance is enter into the shunt's next section in the app to edit the shunts various settings. The app will try to re-connect a few times but fails then stalls. So to fully connect and edit I have to be within a few feet of the device. Not ideal but I figure once it's set up properly I should be good. Time will tell. Alternatively, the SmartShunt can be connected and be read by a GX device. Connection to the SmartShunt is made via a VE.Direct cable.

Remark: Some battery chargers stop charging when the current drops below a set threshold. In these cases, the tail current must be set higher than this threshold. Before we even get to the SmartShunt settings you’ll want to make sure your BMS and charger are similar. In our case, we set our JK BMS with active balancing to 3.55v high-volt-disconnect (per cell meaning a total of 14.2v for the battery). This is also the default for a Victron Multiplus when LiFePO4 is chosen. This setting is relatively simple, if you have a single battery it’s really easy (the stated capacity of your battery in Ah) If your battery capacity is stated in Kwh then divide by the voltage of your battery. Epidemiology of cerebrospinal fluid shunting. Pediatr Neurosurg. 1995; 23( 5):254–9. [ PubMed] [ Google Scholar] May I also ask for some advice on installing a Victron battery monitor? At present I have a lot of sep cables going to the 2x new lithium 100ah plus solar ,mains charger, inverter, temp sensors etc. Room is tight for busbars but I can just about fabricate a mounting for the BVM 712 and a sep neg busbar. My understanding is that all negative loads inc solar and inverter then go to the negative busbar ( ? the temp sensors?) then new cable connects neg busbar to load on BVM and then BVM connected to cable from battery negative ( cross wired). Is that correct?
