About this deal

It's a late night for William and Kate as they depart Clarence House close to midnight after Charles's glittering 75th birthday bash... but was his biggest present his first phone chat with estranged son Harry in six months? The loss of his sight would have been a serious blow for any young man to come to terms with, but Munro suffered further distress on his return to Scotland. Do you live in one of the UK's 'porch pirate' hotspots? Interactive map shows where thieves hit the most to steal deliveries left on doorsteps Teaninich 20 yo 1999/2019 (55.7%, Archives ‘The Fishes of Samoa’, cask #307938, hogshead 248 bottles) - by Angus - 120920

Established in Alness, Ross-shire in 1817 by the blind Captain Hugh Munro, little of the original Teaninich distillery now remains after a number of expansions and new construction projects. Local legend also has it that he had a fling with one of the servants at Teaninich Castle, leading to the birth of a daughter.

Teaninich 13 yo 2005/2019 (56.2%, Single Cask Nation, 2nd fill bourbon hogshead, cask #487, 277 bottles) - 021219 Teaninich distillery wasn't one of them, as it had built around for more than 150 years. But it was, nevertheless, decided by the owners, DCL, that the Teaninich distillery needed both a major upgrade and increased capacity. We are one of the most innovative and modern distilleries in Scotland, while also being one of the oldest, and we are proud to continue that legacy of innovation today.’ Built in 1817, Teaninich was an early legal distillery, but as it was built by Napoleonic war hero and estate owner ‘Blind’ Captain Hugh Munro that’s no more than you would expect. He and his brother General John Munro were notable as being benign and caring landlords in a region which was brutally hit by the Highland Clearances [see Clynelish]. It possesses telephonic communication with the proprietor's residence and the quarters of the excise officer."

Whisky reviews for Teaninich 2009 SV

In April 2013 owner Diageo announced a new renovation of the distillery. [2] They also announced a new distillery with 16 new stills will be placed next to the old distillery. The new distillery is planned to have a different name than Teaninich, and produce a separate whisky. [4] A completely new Teaninich distillery with six stills was built next to the old with four stills and, all of a sudden, it had become one of the largest distilleries at the time with a capcity of six million litres. Nose: Light and grainy at first, mellowing out. Subtle organics. Grows much more complex with water.
