Word of the calendar spread through the village, and slowly but surely people came forward and signed up to take part in it. “Once people knew their friends were doing it, they’d say 'oh, if you're doing it, I'll do it,'” says Wilson.

Bartlett-Horwood wants other people to feel the way she feels and “not to be worried about what other people think.” Some of the elderly ladies - believed to be the oldest glam models in Scotland - are former service women who wanted to tastefully bare their bits to help old comrades. Well fast-forward about 15 years. The TG event was nice, and I'm glad I dropped by for a while. The person who organized the event put her heart and soul into it and did a fabulous job. And it appeared that all who attended were enjoying themselves. These events truly are a great way to take that first step out and to build one's confidence and I would encourage anyone wanting to take that first step out to attend one. I have little doubt if I had taken that route in the mid 90's I would not have spent another 7 or so years in the closet. She said: “The places get bought and sold like anywhere else. People sometimes move on when they retire and go to somewhere sunnier. The heart of the village is its club house where the residents get together in the altogether for discos, karaoke sessions, quiz nights and pool tournaments.

I loved my military days and wouldn't trade my memories for a million pounds. The whole calendar shoot idea was originally a joke but it is a great way to raise cash.

The mainly two-bed bungalows come with all mod cons, including mains ­electricity, water and sewage.But like any community, the nudists have their flash points. ­Property ownership is far from the only bone of contention.
