About this deal

Because there are so many different spreaders on the market it is impossible for use to provide settings for all spreaders. Therefore you're going to have to calibrate your spreader to our fertiliser so watch the video. Now your lawn is susceptible to heat, drought (maybe not for us in the UK), excessive use and insects so helping it out with a feeding will really do it some good. You’ll normally apply the fertiliser about 10 to 14 weeks after the spring feeding, so this will be between June and July.

ADDED NUTRIENTS - The added iron helps to ‘green up’ your lawn. The magnesium makes photosynthesis more efficient, turning more sunlight to energy & making the grass more green and lush. The seaweed adds essential minerals & breaks down the soil which helps to release more nutrient content. To determine an optimum programme for your lawn we need to establish soil type. This is because different soils hold and release water, air and nutrients differently. A clay soil holds nutrients better than a sandy soil therefore a sandy soil will need a slightly stronger mix of nutrients than a clay one. This also means a slightly reduced cost for clay soil fertilisers. If you haven't seen this sort of damage before with your lawn in previous years, then it is worth getting a grass seed that suits your ordinary conditions whether that be a grass seed that is needed to be hard wearing or one that is suitable for use on a sports field. If you have weeds and/or moss in your lawn then use a weed, feed and moss killer to save time and money on buying and applying weed killer for lawns and lawn fertiliser separately. Feeding the lawn in the early spring will strengthen its roots and gets it off to a good start before the heavy growing season. Plan to apply the fertiliser around when you first start sending your robotic mower out (or when you plan your first cut with your push mower), so at the beginning of April is your best bet. This of course depends on the weather conditions, but a good rule of thumb is to wait until you’ve mown a couple of times.

Fertiliser that is sprayed as a liquid is traditionally used to top up the nutrients in the lawn. A bit like you having an apple or a Kit-Kat between main meal, though some people do use liquid fertilisers as a regular monthly feed with good results. It is not ideal as the first or last feed of the year due to its limited range of nutrients but is excellent from late spring to early autumn. Use a granular feed to start and finish the lawn year.

If conditions are right, which means the grass is growing and there is moisture in the soil then it is best to apply Lawnsmith® Fertilisers straight after mowing. You can also apply before or after rain. Feeding AND WeedingLiquid fertiliser is generally more expensive compared to granules. Bear in mind that if you have been using granules, you will need to convert your equipment to deliver the liquid fertiliser. A balanced blend of N:P:K nutrients is ideal for during the cooler, spring weather for grass plants to utilise. Finally, because liquid feeds are taken up by the leaves of the grass you are best spraying mature grasses (at least 3 months old preferably 6 months) that are in good condition i.e. plenty of soil moisture and NOT straight after scarifying. If using granules, you will need to keep pets and children away from any treated areas until the granules have been watered into the lawn. Tools

Summer is arriving any day now and the increase in light and rising temperatures helps plants to have a burst of growth. Although this means that plants are growing, it also means that weeds will be shooting up out of the ground. For this reason it is important to keep an eye out for them and gain control where you can. Continue reading our guide below to find out the different gardening jobs that you should be completing during this month. General Tasks For June The 9-7-7 Everris ICL Sportsmaster fertiliser is ideal for treating grass throughout spring and summer. 9-7-7 Sportsmaster is suitable for treating any grassed area from sports fields to fine lawns. A fast acting blended fertiliser, 9-7-7 Sportsmaster will help you gain a healthy, lush and vigorous lawn. Having a healthy lawn enables it to withstand many lawn issues, such as weeds, moss growth, disease and drought. You can expect the nutrients to be released slowly over a 6 week period which avoids any rapid top growth and repeated mowing. Apply by hand or through a spreader in mid-season on areas subject to intense use. Many fertilisers work on a slow release basis, however these do vary from one fertiliser to another. Some gardeners may prefer to fertilise only once during the growing season in spring, using a very slow release fertiliser. However, this is not always the best option. It is recommended that you fertilise your lawn around 4 times per year, as mentioned above, as this gives you a greater control over the amount of nutrients delivered to your lawn according to its health and weather conditions.

Why does winter have an affect on grass?

If the winter we have experienced has been cold and dry but still with a good amount of light then damage to the turf will be considerably less than if the winter is a wet and cloudy one due to the damage that would be caused from low light conditions and excess water from rainfall.
