About this deal

Stability is great in the Ghost 13 and it remains one of the most stable neutral trainers money can buy. A daily trainer is arguably the most important shoe in a runner’s shoe rotation because the bulk of their running is done in them. Expert reviewers suggest these running trainers to be perfect for recovery runs or slow-paced long runs. Brooks Ghost 13 vs 12

What that means for you is that the ride is going to be a smoother more cushioned ride. The Ghost 14 is now going to give you a much more consistent feel as you go through your stride. What is Brooks DNA Loft? The first negative about the Ghost is that it is a high heel-to-toe drop or offset. Both shoes have a total difference of 12 millimeters between your heel and your forefoot, which effectively means your heel is 12 millimeters higher than your forefoot.BioMoGo DNA fuses BioMoGo midsole and DNA cushioning technology for a fully custom responsive ride that adapts to the needs of each and every runner, updated with a two piece construction to enhance a smooth, flexible ride. S-257 Cushsole is a midsole compound used as an insole to deliver even more cushioning and flexibility. DNA Loft is basically Brooks’ softest cushioning to date. It’s basically a blend of EVA foam rubber and air to give you that perfect balance between responsiveness and cushioning. Even though the DNA Loft is Brooks’ softest version of their foam, the Ghost is not unstable or mushy in any way.

The Ghost feels most similar to the Saucony Ride, but even the Ride has got slightly more pace in it than the Brooks Ghost. So, I think the Saucony Ride is a fairly comparable shoe in terms of where it sits. It is more tilted towards kind of easy running than kind of tempo or interval stuff. The comfort delivered by the new midsole and upper of the Brooks Ghost 13 deserves nothing but praise. We are really fond of the instant step-in comfort of the shoe and its stretchy plush upper. So, if that’s something that worries you, I wouldn’t be too concerned. DNA Loft is a pretty dense foam and will give you enough cushioning underfoot to basically protect your joints and keep you going on those longer days. The toe box of the Ghost 13 is spacious and there is plenty of room for your feet to splay. There is also an internal toe stiffener for structure and support in the toe area. The second positiveis that Brooks made the updates in the right direction. All the things that they added to the Brooks Ghost 14 vs 13 only improve the shoe especially in the midsole area. The midsole of the Ghost 13 is a dual foam setup of DNA Loft on the lateral side and BioMogo on the medial side. The two foams are very similar in density so the ride is still very balanced and stable.

If you want a super exciting, fun ride, don’t get the Ghost 13. If you want a consistent, stable ride, you should consider getting the Ghost 13. We were happy to find that the Brooks Ghost 13 provides flexibility in all the right places to match natural foot motions. This allows for smoother foot movement and promotes the natural bend of the foot. Caterpillar Crash Pad is a segmented crash pad that flexes with the foot, offering customized cushioning and stability for a smooth heel-to-toe transition. The whole idea of releasing a new version of a shoe is to improve upon the last version. Brooks, in most part, has succeeded with this. The analysis suggests that compared with the Brooks Ghost 12, the 13 has a firmer heel, are more comfortable, have better breathability, has a larger toe-box, and come in slightly lighter. Forefoot DNA cushioning gel is a highly viscous liquid that changes to become more or less firm in response to each individual's weight, pace, biomechanics, and running environment. The Ghost 13 is not a lightweight trainer for sure. At 10.1 oz, it is heavier than its competitors like the Nike Epic React Flyknit 2 (8.7 oz) and the Saucony Ride 13 (9.7 oz). Good grip on Ghost 13 The mesh upper on the Ghost 14 has been updated to be just a tiny bit lighter. Also, the upper is a little more breathable thanks to the addition of more ventilation holes through the toe box. Brooks Ghost 14 – Mesh Upper

Both shoes use something called a 3D Fit Print which is a balance between the stretch and the fit of the upper to allow the shoe to be more accommodating and more comfortable. Basically, they have refined the upper to make it fit more foot types and just provide a better overall experience. Its EVA midsole will lose cushioning over time while its outsole rubber wears down faster than super hard-wearing rubber like the BRS 1000 found on the Pegasus 37 or AHAR+ on the Cumulus 22. The 12mm heel-to-toe offset of the Ghost is more than the other daily trainers and is the perfect shoe for beginner runners who tend to strike on their rearfoot. I can’t mark the upper of the Ghost 13 down for anything except the fact that it doesn’t have a gusseted tongue. But that doesn’t mean Brooks can’t make super shoes like other brands. It’s just that they’re making an entry-level running shoe for beginning runners or runners who want a shoe to do it all. In the toe box area, you also get a little more plastic underneath that mesh upper to provide some protection so your toes or any other outside materials don’t tear the upper in that region. There are three wide flex grooves which span the entire width of the shoe underneath the forefoot which results in a very flexible Ghost 13. I hate the feeling of wearing clown shoes so I had to exchange them for a half size smaller. Overall the fit is much more roomy than previous versions of the Ghost.
