About this deal

If you’re the proud owner of beautiful curls, you’ll want to find a shampoo that is specifically formulated with your hair type in mind. The clue’s in the name with Curlsmith, which specialises in fuss-free solutions for people with curls of every style. A familiar drugstore brand with an accessible price point, Aveeno’s product is a genuine all-rounder that can be used by anyone due to its gentle composition. An accompanying conditioner is also available to complete your routine. Some shampoos with powerful formulas, like certain anti-dandruff shampoos, contain ingredients that are strong enough to strip hair colour. These ingredients such as zinc pyrithione or sulfates can fade hair colour faster. The likes of dyed red hair tend to fade the fastest out of all of the colours, which is why there are shampoos out there made especially to enhance coloured hair, (a bit like shampoo for red hair.) As with all hair products, you need to be mindful of how it affects your hair and scalp, and stop if you notice any adverse effects.

That said, a clarifying shampoo can be used by anyone who wants to ensure their hair is perfectly clean. Factors such as pollution and water quality can affect anyone, so investing in a clarifying shampoo can be a simple, fuss-free way to help your hair detox. Ever get the feeling that your shampoo just isn't working? While your first instinct is to blame the shampoo itself, it's actually the rest of your haircare kit that may be the dullness-causing culprit. This clarifying shampoo is brimming over with goodness too – its ingredients are sustainably sourced, and it’s cruelty-free, PETA-approved, and vegan-friendly, as well as being free from sulphates, parabens and silicones. It’s also rich in Fair Trade Violet Rice Extract, which has been ethically sourced in South East Asia and helps to strip the hair and scalp of grease and dirt. Certified by Leaping Bunny Cruelty Free International, The Vegan Society and The Vegetarian Society.

Clarifying shampoo is a great choice if you have naturally oily hair, but there are a few additional factors that can influence whether or not it’s a wise choice for you. If you fall into any of the categories below, you might want to consider swapping your current shampoo for a clarifying shampoo. On top of all that, the aesthetically pleasing bottle with its striking minimalist design will look great in your shower. Please note that Royal Mail currently classes perfumes, nail polishes, flammable liquids and aerosols as "hazardous materials" and will only accept a limited number of these per parcel.

Not just any option, though; this is a problem that specifically calls for a clarifying shampoo. Think of your clarifying shampoo as the exfoliant to your cleanser, or the mask to your moisturiser. They work harder and deeper than your normal shampoo (removing stubborn excess build-up as well as other hair-dulling elements like pollution, hard water and daily grime) but they can be too much for everyday use. Aqua/Water/Eau, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycerin, Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Benzoate, Parfum (Fragrance), Potassium Sorbate, Coco-Glucoside, Glycol Distearate, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Sodium Phytate, Citric Acid, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil, Beta Vulgaris (Beet) Root Extract, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Extract, Rumex Acetosella (Sorrel) Extract, Phenoxyethanol. Not only are there shampoos out there that can tone your hair, (a bit like purple shampoo for blonde hair), but there are also shampoos that can actually strip your hair colour. Aveeno Clarify and Shine+ Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo: Best all-round clarifying shampoo You live in a hard water area. Hard water is higher in minerals (like magnesium and calcium), which can attach themselves to your hair and affect its condition, leaving it dehydrated and lifeless. As well as leaving hair feeling gorgeously cleansed, what we really love is its eco credentials. With its 97% natural composition, the shampoo is vegan-friendly and cruelty-free. Crucially, it’s also free from a host of baddies like parabens, sulphates, silicones and phthalates. Noughty recommends using it every third wash, so make sure you keep your regular shampoo to hand. Sodium Phtate and Trisodium Ethylenediamene Disuccinate are chelating agents powering Detox Dynamo’s clarifying auction. They lift away and prevent the build-up of minerals and heavy metals. Put a small amount of shampoo in the palm of one hand and rub your palms together to activate the shampoo.

You see, your regular shampoo does a great job of cleaning away everyday products, dirt and oils, but sometimes it needs to call upon a friend that has a little more oomph. So while the issue is not your current shampoo's fault exactly, swapping in another option every few washes is still the answer. We're proud to announce that our mailing bags are made from recycled polythene and are also recyclable, and our bubble wrap is made from recycled plastic and is completely recyclable.

Reviews

Promising to deep-clean hair without stripping away natural oils, this shampoo is appropriate for daily use and a treat to use. Thanks to a blend of Aloe Vera, coconut and essential oils, it’s got a beautifully delicate scent, and it left our hair feeling silky smooth for several days. An accompanying conditioner is also available for a serious hydration fix. Depending on your usual styling routine and how many products you use, will depend on the frequency. But unlike regular shampoos, these won't need to be used more than once a week, think of it more as a treatment wash, and recommended use can vary from every other week or every other month depending on the level of build-up. If you're looking to lift the colour, a colour-stripping shampoo does so gradually over time with minimal damage. It won't exactly have the effect of bleach, but it might lift a shade lighter. Unfortunately, if you're wanting blonde tresses, it'll definitely take bleach or a semi-permanent hair dye to achieve enviable blonde hair like Holly Willoughby. Why use a shampoo to strip hair colour?

Overuse one and you might strip your hair of its natural oils, leaving your tresses dry and unbalanced. Use it on occasion, however, and you'll be blessed with that just-stepped-out-of-a-salon, refreshed hair feeling on the regular. We’ll take the latter, thanks.

About

You use product in your hair. Whether it’s the occasional spritz of hairspray or a daily run-through of tendril-taming mousse, hair products can leave a residue that regular shampoo might not be able to remove. With natural sugar beet extract to condition and peppermint extract for purification, discover deep cleansing like never before with Noughty Detox Dynamo Clarifying Shampoo. Think of clarifying shampoos as a facial for the scalp. If you're experiencing a flaky scalp with lots of fallout, it might not necessarily be dandruff, but could be a build-up of product. By using one of these deep-cleaning shampoos, you can instantly reset and refresh your hair. This is achieved by stripping it of the grimy surface layer and giving your scalp a chance to breathe - more on how to care for your scalp, here. Does clarifying shampoo work for all hair types?
