About this deal
One year ago, an anonymous individual held the school spellbound as they played the ultimate game of Truth or Dare. One by one, secrets were again exposed, leading up to one massive near miss of a disaster. This wasn’t entirely original, I think I’ve heard of some other handful of stories similar, but it was entertaining nonetheless. My heart is literally beating so fast from this thrill and mystery and feels fulfilled with something heavy called satisfaction. I haven't been so content and had screamy feels over a thriller since Dangerous Girls, which was 213324 decades ago. Tightly plotted and brilliantly written, with sharp, believable characters, this whodunit is utterly irresistible' - HEAT
The ending: Horrible. The last quarter was so bad, and just ruined the entire book. I'm just going to pretend it never happened. I think it’s that I just finished You by Caroline Kepnes. And that’s really just a much better book than this. Unfair standard, though. This book was such a disappointment because I was REALLY enjoying it up until the last 3rd or so. I seriously thought this would be a 4 or 5 star read. However, upon finishing, I strongly believe that this book should not have been published as is. It's ignorant and damaging. It, like this book, follows a group of young people and a murder, and mystery surrounding that murder. It, too, involves steamy romance and social media and endless drama.
This book was a pleasant surprise! It was refreshing and a change from the usual young-adult contemporary. First, kudos to whoever was in charge for finally getting a dang blurb right. This absolutely was “The Breakfast Club Meets Pretty Little Liars.” Per usual, I was not the target audience for this selection, but hey the sun shines on an old dog’s butt every once in a while because I thought it was . . . . Its so bloody binge-able you guys, like I finished it in a day and I wasn’t even intending to binge it I love me a good sibling bond in a book. Recently I've been reading books where there is sibling hate or no siblings at all. Personally I have five siblings - not that we all get along all the time. But I feel like sibling relationships don't get enough rep and are unappreciated. I don't read too many contemporaries but gosh-dang was I glued to this plot - the way the clues were revealed slowly and steadily. It was thrilling. These are only my opinions, and I would never dream of disrespecting anyone who disagrees with my review, so please show the same courtesy and don't hate me for what I'm about to say. ❤ Bronwyn, Nate, Cooper, and Addy are suspects for murdering the school's gossiper, Simon.
