It’s ergonomic design also features a recessed outsole – perfect for minimising pressure on the hoof wall. With everyday use in mind, the boot is also design for therapeutic and rehab purposes, and is a must have spare for any rider to have on hand. The easy fasten strap can be done effortlessly by hand, and the replaceable velcro closure extends the working life of the boot should the velcro fatigue over time. The Woof Wear Medical Hoof Boot features a grooved sole for improved grip and a Kevlar® interior for durability. With an asymmetric zip to prevent the zip opening and to stop bedding and other debris from getting inside. Boot are expected to last 2-3 weeks under normal circumstances with many customers finding they last much longer. The boot is not indestructible and so is not guaranteed against breakage, due to the horse standing on the boot. Rehabilitation from injuries, abscesses, navicular disease, laminitis/founder, punctures, sole bruising and contracted heelsWoof Wear expect this boot to last 2-3 weeks under normal circumstances and offer it as a cost-effective alternative to adhesive bandages and tape. The boot is not indestructible and so is not guaranteed against breakage due to the horse standing on the boot. It is not suitable as an alternative to an overreach boot to prevent shoe loss, nor protect against overreaching. If your horse is inclined to overreach, or stands on its own hooves, then an overreach boot should be used over the Medical Hoof Boot to protect both the horse and the boot from damage.

If you’re looking for a little extra protection for your shod horse, or are currently dealing with an abscess and need to de-shoe a foot, then this Cavallo hoof boot should be top of your consideration. We found the boot to be an excellent lightweight, sturdy and high quality hoof boot. Compared to the Cavallo all-round hoof boots, the HKM hoof boot is a much cheaper option, but there’s a reason for that. If you want a boot that will last the long term and is a solid all-rounder for work and rehab we wouldn’t necessarily recommend the HKM hoof boot. Designed with stable use in mind, the medical hoof boot is not particularly suitable for turnout and nor should it be used that way. It’s application is best described as a waterproof and protected shield to help keep poultice and dressings clean. They should last for 2 – 3 weeks turn out or longer if stabled. The biggest danger to the longevity of the boot is if the horse were to stand on it and damage it – they are not indestructible!Having used these boots myself I found them very easy to put on and take off and they performed very well for road work. It is worth mentioning that these boots are usually sold individually, so whilst the price might grab your attention you will in some cases need to buy two quantity for the pair. Many customers are not measuring accurately or are buying a size too big which often results in damage to the MHB due to the boot being trodden on by the other foot. The Woof Wear Medical Hoof Boot is a unique close-fitting boot that is designed to keep wounds, poultices and dressings clean, and to assist in the treatment of a number of ailments to the foot such as abscesses, punctured soles or bruised soles. The asymmetric zip gives this boot a really close fit to limit bedding and other debris from getting inside. The Woof Wear Medical Hoof boot has been designed to fit closely around the hoof and be a stretch fit around the pastern. If this is achieved, the boot will not fall off and is less likely to be trodden on with the other foot. The hoof that the boot is to be used on must be measured accurately in mm – not in inches and then converted.
