About this deal

or 5G home broadband enables you to get internet for your household using a mains-powered router. It is an alternative to traditional fibre broadband, with oneadvantage being that you do not require a landline or engineer visit. In general, you shouldn’t notice it being used as it’s designed to be seamless, but it will for example sometimes mean Three reroutes bandwidth from quieter places to places with increased demand. Technically there are some limits but on Three they’re minimal and only apply in specific circumstances, such as when you’re roaming abroad, details of which you’ll find below.

Wondering if you need unlimited data? Unless you’re streaming video and music fairly regularly, you probably can get away with a tiered data plan, like the ones offered by AT&T and Verizon. So if you use a lot of data or want the freedom to do so, then an unlimited data plan is likely to be a great fit for you. What is All-You-Can-Eat data?

Features of Unlimited Data plans

All-you-can-eat data is an alternative name for unlimited data, which was introduced by Three in 2010 when they launched “The One Plan”. However, Three stopped referring to all-you-can-eat data in 2019 and switched instead to using the term unlimited data. Our search for the best unlimited plans covers not only those big carriers, but some smaller outfits that you may not have heard of before. Don't worry — they're using the cellular networks set up by the major carriers, so you can exect solid coverage no matter who's providing your phone service.

For Mobile: lets you select a monthly Device Plan Credit Agreement (3-36 months) with a monthly Airtime Plan. Phone Plans over 12 months require a 24-month Monthly Airtime Plan. You can pay off your Device Plan early, and if you do, you can then keep your Airtime Plan on a 30-day contract or leave. If your Airtime Plan ends for any reason, you will need to keep on paying your monthly Device Plan (either in full or monthly) That depends. While you do technically get unlimited data on all of these plans, many of them will impose a restriction somewhere in the plan to limit you slightly. And O2 is so far one of the only major UK networks that hasn’t reintroduced roaming charges in the EU. So you’ll be able to use your O2 data while travelling to EU countries. Smarty For Laptops / Tablets: lets you select a monthly Device Plan Credit Agreement (3-48 months) with a 24 month Data Plan. You can pay off your Device Plan early, and if you do, you can then keep your Data Plan on a 30-day contract or leave. If your Data Plan ends for any reason, you will need to keep on paying your monthly Device Plan (either in full or monthly)

Get your service from a discount carrier, and you run the risk that your speeds will be slowed in favor of other customers on the parent carrier's network. Visible guarantees customers who sign up for its Visible Plus plan 50GB of premium data free of throttling. Xfinity Mobile slows speeds after you use 20GB of data on its standard unlimited plan, but under the Plus and Premium tiers, those caps rise to 30GB and 50GB, respectively. Mint now caps its unlimited data plan at 40GB — it used to be 35GB — while Tello's 25GB cap is the lowest of the plans we've included here. All Rounder SIM: Includes uncapped speeds, 1 Inclusive Extra, Data Gifting, Stay Connected Data, and upgrade anytime. AT&T reserves the right to start throttling data at 50GB for Unlimited Extra; Unlimited Starter customers can be throttled at any time. Unlimited Premium customers no longer have to worry about caps, though, as AT&T has removed that limitation from its most expensive plan. Verizon is able to slow data after 30GB are used by Unlimited Plus customers; speeds can slow whenever there's network congestion for the Unlimited Welcome plan. T-Mobile lets you use 100GB of data before throttling can begin, though if you opt for the more expensive Magenta Max plan, there's no cap on data usage at all. This usage allowance for data abroad should refresh each month like your allowance in the UK would.

Three used to have a fair-usage policy of 1000GB a month, but that is no longer the case. The only caveat now is you can only use the plans for personal use (not commercial). Smartwatch: requires a) Vodafone pay monthly Airtime plan, and b) 12 or 24 month Connectivity Plan (via Vodafone OneNumber). Watch Plans over 12 months require a 24 month Connectivity Plan.
