The Bosch UniversalRotak 550 has a very respectable 40 litre grass box. Though this may not be enough for the full 550 square metre rating, it will reduce the number of emptying trips that you will need to do.

This mower is supplied with either 1 x 4Ah battery or 2 x 2Ah batteries that charge in 125 minutes for the 4Ah and will give a free run time of around 50 minutes to enable you to cover a lawn up to 550m² in size. Naturally this run time will depend on the condition of the lawn, however the Powerdrive (Efficient Energy Management) feature adjusts the power so you only use what you need. This is a great feature from Bosch and definitely helps to preserve the life of the batteries. Another great feature of the Bosch UniversalRotak 36-550 is its patented “ProSilence” sound reduction system, which reduces the noise of the mower by a whopping 30%, allowing for a more relaxing, chilled out, working environment and year-round saving on those pesky little earplugs. If you’ve had it with noisy lawn mowers, the EasyRotak 36-550 will be right up your street. This mower is surprisingly quiet even though it does not have ProSilence (up to 30% quieter) like its bigger brothers the Universal and Advanced Rotak. This is great if you lead a busy lifestyle and only tend to have time to mow at the very beginning or end of the day and don’t want to disturb the neighbours. The Bosch UniversalRotak 550 is well-built for medium to large gardens, though the 10 meter power cord may be a bit short for some larger areas. Bosch’s direct drive electric motor means there are no belts or gears prone to wear down over time. Large wheels make it easy to maneuver, especially when the grass box is full. If you’ve struggled with uncomfortable mowers in the past then this is an excellent option. The whole point of this design is that the user stands in a more natural position and reduces strain which could go a long way in easing pain and discomfort that is exacerbated by other mowers.As with any lawn mower if the cord becomes damaged, it is recommended to replace the cable with one of similar size and strength from Bosch and not a cheaper third party replacement. This is a spring-loaded mechanism on the Bosch UniversalRotak 550 with a height indicator. The user pushes the height button down on the machine to lower it and then unloads the machine to raise it. With this system, there is no need to walk around the unit, adjusting each wheel. Do I think you should buy this lawn mower? With a 1300 watt motor that has a PowerDrive motor that produces exceptional torque due to clever reduction gearing.
