If the aforementioned precautions are respected, Covonia Lozenges can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Inform your doctor that you are using this medicine. If you experience any side effects associated with an allergic reaction, immediately stop using this product and seek medical attention. Although unlikely, you’d have to consume a lot of Covonia Double Impact Cough Drops to overdose on menthol. Most cases of menthol poisoning occur because of the consumption of pure menthol. Over the counter cough drops like Covonia Double Impact Cough Drops don’t contain pure menthol. The menthol in Covonia is watered down and mixed with other ingredients. In topical use on intact skin, chlorhexidine is adsorbed on the outside layers of the skin, providing long-term antimicrobial effect. Pharmacokinetic research has shown that after rinsing the oral cavity, approximately 30% of chlorhexidine is retained, which is then slowly released into the saliva. Lidocaine can cause a systematic intoxication (toxic dose for adults from 0.5 g onwards), which affects the central nervous system and the cardiovascular system.
