For users who rely on the routing power that TotalMix offers, Class Compliant operation means that the UCX II can also be connected directly to an iPad. When paired with the TotalMix for iPad app, any iPad running iOS version 9 and above can turn their tablet into a fully-fledged TotalMix workspace. If you’re new to RME interfaces, it’s worth noting that whilst the Fireface 400 has long been discontinued, it’s actually still receiving updates(!), and like its sibling the Fireface 800, can even be used with the latest M1 Macs and Mac OS Big Sur (via a somewhat mad combination of adapters). The RME Fireface UCX II can also integrate with RME's optional ARC USB remote control (sold separately).

RME’s latest software, TotalMix Remote, further enhances the functionality of the Fireface. This allows for remote control of the Fireface from multiple devices. The RME ARC USB is a USB 1.1 MIDI remote control - thanks to operating as a UAC 1 class device, it is natively compatible to Windows and Mac OS X. As soon as it is present in the operating system, TotalMix FX will automatically detect the ARC USB, and communicate with it via simple MIDI remote commands to control the UCX II.
