About this deal

I’m very happy I took the plunge. This monitor is brilliant. There are a few things that annoy me about it, and I’ll get into those a little later. Overall, though, it’s everything I could have asked for. The HP Omen 27i is a 27″ 1440p 165Hz IPS gaming monitor with a fast 1ms GtG pixel response time speed and a wide 98% DCI-P3 color gamut for both responsive and immersive gaming experience. Image Quality Approximate diagonal size of the display. If the manufacturer does not provide such information, the diagonal is calculated from the width and height of the screen. Windows instantly recognized the Omen 27i’s 165 Hz refresh and G-Sync Compatibility. No changes were necessary in the Nvidia Control panel. FreeSync also worked right off the bat when we hooked the monitor up to our AMD-based gaming PC. We only wish it had an sRGB emulation mode – if it did, we are sure it’d be a much stronger rival to the more popular LG 27GP850 thanks to its attractive design. Specifications Screen Size

Information about the number of pixels on the horizontal and vertical side of the screen. A higher resolution allows the display of a more detailed and of higher quality image. The HP Omen 27i monitor is certified as G-SYNC Compatible by NVIDIA, so you can expect flawless VRR performance up to 165FPS. HP Inc UK Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA FRN 973346) and acts as a credit intermediary and not a lender, offering credit products provided by a limited number of finance providers. Such credit products may not be suitable for everyone. Borrowing more than you can afford or paying late may negatively impact your financial status and ability to obtain credit. With the Xbox One and Series consoles, the range is 48-120Hz, and the monitor supports the 1440p 120Hz mode. Besides the subpar contrast ratio, IPS monitors also suffer from IPS glow – a noticeable ‘glow’ around the corners of the screen that is most noticeable when dark content is displayed in a dark room and with a high brightness setting.

The dynamic contrast shows the ratio between the brightest and the darkest color, which the display can reproduce over time, for example, in the course of playing a video. This means that you will get over-saturated colors unless you calibrate and profile the monitor using a dedicated colorimeter. Some users actually prefer the extra saturation, while others would’ve preferred the more natural look of an sRGB emulation.Must support DisplayPort 1.2 directly from GPU. Requires GTX 650Ti Boost GPU or higher. NVIDIA R340 52 or higher. See NVIDIA.com for more details. inch QHD screens are perfect for just about any kind of computer use thanks to its excellent pixel density. You won’t need scaling with this monitor and it will look extra crisp and detailed while playing games. The downside is you get a considerable increase in GPU requirements, so making sure you have an upper mid to top range card is crucial for smooth gaming performance. Keep in mind that there are two more HP monitors with similar names, the HP Omen 27 (without the ‘i’ at the end), which uses a TN panel with inferior image quality and narrow viewing angles – and the HP Omen X 27 with a 240Hz TN panel. Information about the maximum vertical viewing angle, within which the image on the screen is of acceptable quality. Approximate width of the display. If the manufacturer does not provide such information, the width is calculated from the diagonal and the aspect ratio.

The energy efficiency class/label provides general idea about the power consumption. There are different energy efficiency classes and each sets its own requirements regarding the power consumption. Some of the existent energy efficiency classes are A+++, A++, A+, A, B, C, D, E, F, G. The HP Omen 27i boasts a sleek and sturdy design with a height-adjustable stand up to 130mm, tilt by -5°/20°, and VESA mount compatibility (100x10mm). Manually adjusting the settings provided can improve the dE average to 2.16 which is considerably better, but a colorimeter can get as low as 0.64. of course, we wouldn’t recommend spending the extra on the latter, since you can simply tweak the monitor to balance out its errors. The colorimeter will only be necessary for editing or content creation applications where the best possible color fidelity will be worth it.Second, sometimes the Omen 27i will refuse to establish a connection with my machine if it’s powered on after the PC is. When this happens, I typically either have to restart my computer or unplug the monitor. From the research I’ve done, this particular issue might have something to do with DisplayPort-related hotplug quirks, but whatever the cause, it’s annoying. Bottom line That brings me to the few qualms I have with the HP Omen 27i, which take the form of frustratingly basic glitches. A monitor of this caliber shouldn't really fall victim to them. Arsenic and its compounds were not detected using U.S. EPA test methods 3052/6010b by ICP-AES with a Method Detection Limit of 10 ppm. The percentage of the approximate area, taken by the active part of the screen, to the total front area.

Product images are for illustration purposes only, product availability and colours may vary by country. On the Omen 27i, you get a pixel density of ~108 PPI (pixels per inch), which translates to plenty of screen real estate with sharp details and text – and no scaling necessary. One of the best things about the HP OMEN 27i is its excellent pixel response time which doesn’t produce noticeable blurring. You only need to set the overdrive to Level 1, and you are good to go with zero persistence and smudging. Setting it any higher will add overshoot, so the former is the only viable option for any kind of gaming scenario. Call of Duty WWII is our usual HDR test, but it looks pretty good in SDR mode too when there is this much color available. Urban rubble showed its rough textures, fine shades of gray and earth tones. Smoke and mist effects were smooth and clean without banding or artifacts. Small bits of color from uniforms shone nicely. The HP OMEN 27i is a great choice if you want a vibrant screen with excellent responsiveness and design. The monitor offers superb gamut coverage, but it doesn’t have filters that can tighten it for color-critical work. Its low input lag and FreeSync/G-Sync duality extends its flexibility, especially at a time where new and more powerful cards are dropping.
