Vegan friendly ‘Nutella’ : You want to use a vegan friendly / dairy-free chocolate and hazelnut spread. As the classic Nutella isn’t vegan, you want to use a vegan friendly alternative. My favourite is the Natures Store Cocoa & Hazelnut Spread. Bake in the middle of the oven for 12-15 minutes until golden brown at the edges. You can even turn the tray half way through to ensure an even baking.

American brand Justin’s, which makes nut butters and vegan dark chocolate peanut butter cups, has a chocolate hazelnut spread available. Independent brand Rawmio has a healthier take on Nutella – its stone-ground hazelnut spread is made from raw hazelnuts, raw cacao nibs, and coconut sugar. Divine – Dark Chocolate Mint Thins, Dark Chocolate Ginger Thins, dark chocolate bars in various flavours German brand Vego — famous for its dairy-free chocolate hazelnut candy bars — launched a crunchy chocolate spread last August. It’s said to taste exactly like the signature chocolate bars, which are popular for having a Nutella-like flavor.

The headline is that jam and custard Co-op donuts are dairy-free. Yes, that’s right. Head to your local Co-op NOW! California-based food company Nutiva makes a vegan dark chocolate hazelnut spread with chia and flax seeds for added omega-3 fatty acid. Italian organic brand Rigoni di Asiago makes Nocciolata, a dairy-free “Nutella” that’s also palm oil-free. Nature’s Store also makes vegan “Nutella” in a tub, which includes palm oil, but according to the company it only uses RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) certified palm oil. Plain flour : As this is a cookie recipe and doesn’t need any raising agents, plain / all purpose flour is best! It makes for a delicious, buttery cookie!
