About this deal

might seem expensive for a slow cooker, but the Russell Hobbs Good-to-Go is so much more than just that. It has eight impressive functions, including sear, slow cook, roast, sous vide, steam, rice, boil and keep warm, so it offers excellent value for money. The only missing multi-cooker feature it might leave you hankering after is an air fryer setting, but you'd typically pay a lot more for a device with that included. Chips costs about 7p on average to cook 320g in a multi cooker, the same as an air fryer. The same amount in an electric oven costs 25p, and 20p in a halogen oven.

Through testing a variety of different slow cookers, this allowed me to cross-compare the Russell Hobbs Good-to-Go with different models to assess its performance and offer a balanced view to help Mumsnetters choose the right slow cooker for their needs. Add the cream, peas and spinach, and bring to the boil. Once the mixture has come to a boil, stir in the pasta prepared earlier and bring to the boil. Turn off the multi-cooker and stir in the parmesan, garnishing the pasta with the chopped flat leaf parsley. The recipe doesn’t have much information on how long to cook each part of the meal, so it did take some trial and error before I got it right.

When the pasta is cooked, remove the control panel from the base of the multi-cooker pot before draining and lightly refreshing the pasta. Set the pasta aside until ready to use. For the purposes of our tests, we asked Which? members which programs they would most use on a multi cooker and from this defined a multi cooker as: an appliance with at least five different modes of cooking; one of these needs to be air frying or roasting/baking; and at least one other function from pressure cooking, slow cooking or steaming. Cake costs 12p on average in a multi cooker, though the cost range was wide with the cheapest being 7p and most expensive 18p. A typical air fryer will cost about 6p to bake the cake, while an electric oven would cost 20p and a halogen oven 26p. It also excelled at cooking rice and pasta, making this a great all-rounder whether you're whipping up a tasty stew, casserole, chilli, curry, or sides to accompany your main dish. Need to know 95cm power cord; 7.6-litre capacity; accessories include grill seal, measuring cup, spatula, and recipe book; delay timer and keep warm functions; accessories are dishwasher-safe; two-year guarantee How we tested multi cookers

Having the ability to sear ingredients in the pot before slow cooking gave it extra points when it came to ease of use too. I could brown meat and soften veggies in the multi-cooker, something you have to do in a separate frying pan on the hob with a lot of slow cookers – any feature that saves on washing up is good in my books! My favourite feature of this impressive multi-cooker was the ability to sear and slow cook in the same pot without the need to use the hob at all. The keep warm setting was fantastic too – at the end of the cooking time, it automatically switched to this mode so food wasn't overcooked but was still hot when I was ready to eat. Be aware of pre-heat times They are usually not included in the quoted cooking time in recipes, but can be 10 minutes or more if you're pressure cooking or steaming with the multi cooker. We factored preheat times when rating how fast each multi cooker delivered.

I started by boiling cream, milk and vanilla in the slow cooker and then strained it into a bowl. I then added eggs and sugar and whisked until it was a smooth mixture. I divided the batter into glass ramekins that I placed directly in the cooker. Using the sous vide setting I cooked the custard pots for 20 minutes and then let them chill in the fridge. I usually sprinkle chopped strawberries onto the pots, but I tried searing them with sugar in the slow cooker and they were delicious. We rated each multi cooker on the overall cooking experience, how long it took to cook (including any preheat time), and how the food looked and tasted afterwards. The Russell Hobbs Good To Go 6 is definitely an upgrade from previous models. It has a sleeker design, and far more functions and the removable pot is great for taking food directly to the table.Instructions and recipes make a big difference to your cooking experience Some multi cookers give step-by-step guidance and tables with cooking programs and settings for various ingredients. Others throw you in the deep end, leaving you to guess the best mode to cook your dinner with. However you may see some pressure cookers labelled as multi pressure cookers, or air fryers that also have other cooking functions, such as fry, roast and grill. Some multi cookers are more like slow cookers, with a less powerful heating element built into the base. In theory, yes, as long as your multi cooker has the correct program (you probably don't want to 'grill' rice or 'stew' a cake). Each multi cooker was also assessed on how easy it was to operate, program and view food while cooking and how clear it was that food was done or needed turning.

We've tested the most popular brands, such as: Ninja multi cookers (including the Ninja Speedi and Ninja 15-in-1), Russell Hobbs, Tefal and more. Everything we tested got the job done. But some were a pain to use, and took so long to cook they left our stomachs rumbling – even then, the results weren't that appetising. I tested the Russell Hobbs Good-to-Go Multicooker in my north London kitchen, using a variety of its functions to cook up different dishes. We found that larger multi cookers cost a bit more per use to run than smaller ones, but obviously you can cook more food in one go. Once you break the running costs down to cost per gram of food, there’s not a big difference in energy costs between different multi cookers.Half fill your Good to Go Multi-Cooker with water; add 2 tbsp olive oil and season. Using the control panel, set to boil. The Good to Go Cooker is one of the most versatile kitchen appliances I have seen in a long time. Its various functions mean that it’s incredibly simple to cook one-pot meals - you can do everything from cook pasta, bake tarts and stew casseroles.
