About this deal

Kihrin runs from the Kazivar House to Butterbelly's Pawn Shop. He enters and after catching his breath accuses Butterbelly of setting him up. Butterbelly denies this but can only say the tip came from "'...a good source. A trusted source.'" [7] After tensions settle Kihrin hands Butterbelly his loot with a smirk, and they haggle over the price for the intalgio carved ruby ring. While discussing it Butterbelly questions Kihrin on where the money he earns goes as he hasn't been caught by the Watchmen for spending it. Kihrin grows defensive stating its not for him, and Butterbelly ponders over the likelihood the money is for Surdyeh. Kihrin begins to ask a question when the pair is interrupted by the arrival of Faris and two of his gang members (one being Merit, who is then unnamed). Kihrin wakes to hear Khaemezra and Doc arguing over her treatment of Kihrin like a soldier. Doc voices how difficult it is to work with Kihrin as he looks like Pedron, at which Khaemezra wounds him by correcting him that Kihrin looks like King Terindel. Khaemezra leaves as Doc begs her not to make the same mistake twice. Doc then nudges Kihrin who asks about Valathea again. When he refuses, Kihrin presses, stating Doc wasn't here for Khaemezra but because Kihrin was descended from Terindel. Doc reveals he didn't know Valrashar lived, and that when he went to search for Valathea in the Korthaen Blight, it was too late. He reveals the rest of his history: that he found Elana Milligreest pregnant (SPOILER: Emperor Kandor's child) and Doc helped her, coming to be a guardian to many Milligreests as Nikali Milligreest, causing Kihrin to fan over his accomplishments. Doc then adopted Tauna and opened the Culling Field tavern. Doc admits to Kihrin he knew about Valrashar as soon as he saw Therin (a friend of Qoran whom he was looking after when he went to the Capital), but did not tell them. Kihrin then leaves to find the Old Man again. The only remarkable qualities about Lord Var were his confidence, his poise, and the fact the auctioneer recognized him. Var didn’t seem interested in me. His attention focused on the auctioneer; he barely glanced at me. He might as well have been bidding on a set of tin plates. An impressive and highly accomplished debut . . . The Ruin of Kings makes both an ideal introduction to epic fantasy and a rewarding read for fans of the genre."— The Los Angeles Times Kihrin grew up in the slums of Quur, a thief and a minstrel’s son raised on tales of long-lost princes and magnificent quests. When he is claimed against his will as the missing son of a treasonous prince, Kihrin finds himself at the mercy of his new family’s ruthless power plays and political ambitions.

At some point, Kihrin gets marked by a demon after witnessing a dark magic ritual at a noble’s mansion while trying to steal some jewels. Later, the young man becomes embroiled in a dangerous plot to assassinate the Quur emperor and steal valuables from the imperial vaults. This turn of events changes Kihrin’s life mission from saving the empire to destroying it. Indeed.' Fond remembrance wrestled with old pain behind the man's eyes. 'We're friends, once.' He examined Kihrin, his expression unreadable." [14] Jenn Lyons begins the Chorus of Dragons series with The Ruin of Kings, an epic fantasy novel about a man who discovers his fate is tied to the future of an empire.

Likely several days later the D'Mon family sits down for their family dinner in the formal dining room, where everyone (hundreds of those related to the D'Mon name) eat a several course long meal. Kihrin sits at the head table with the immediate family as Tishar D'Mon questions him on his musical talent, which he downplays (but not before Alshena D'Mon suggests Kihrin did more in Velvet Town, causing her to get teased by Bavrin D'Mon). Tishar then asks if Kihrin will play at the New Years Festival masquerade, which Darzin attempts to deny before Therin asserts that Kihrin will indeed play as High General Qoran plans to attend the ball. Tishar teases Kihrin that it will gain him favor with many noble daughters, and Darzin snaps at her to give it a rest and let people first forget Kihrin's mother was a common whore, which Kihrin corrects as being a slut, before deducing she was in fact a whore. Over the years, many Annapurna film productions have received awards and nominations. In 2013, “The Grandmaster” and “American Hustle” earned multiple Academy Award nominations recognizing Annapurna’s film production expertise. What Is “The Ruin of Kings” Book About? The process represents a complex puzzle that involves creating a screenplay, hiring actors, sourcing funding, and shooting a pilot. All the pieces of the puzzle need to fit seamlessly before full production commences. In some cases, production companies fail to secure buy-ins from TV networks after shooting a pilot. About Annapurna Pictures The Ruin of Kings is a terrific debut novel by author Jenn Lyons. It’s playtime is 27 hours and 15 minutes, and when you are done listening you are going to be wanting more. I promise. I’d never been to Kishna-Farriga before, but I didn’t have to be a native to know only a fool came to this auction house without bodyguards.

Therin asks Kihrin to keep tabs on Darzin before telling him Valathea has been returned to Kihrin, and to watch the volume as their rooms are adjacent to one another. Meanwhile, Alshena heads to the east wing of the Blue Palace to a secret underground chamber, entering as Darzin finishes poisoning a man to death on a table. She chides him that he used too much, at which he chides her appearance. She shifts, revealing herself to to be Talon, into Morea's appearance. Talon accuses that Kihrin is not Darzin's son, which her admits.Personally, I was used to the slave markets of the Quuros Octagon, with its endless mazes of private chambers and auction theaters. The slave pits in Kishna-Farriga weren’t so elaborate. They used just one open-air stone amphitheater, built next to the famous harbor. At maximum capacity, the rising stone steps seated three thousand people. A slave might arrive by ship, visit the holding cells underneath the amphitheater, and leave with a new owner the same day—all without clearing the smell of dead fish from their nose. For the most part, Lyons does a fantastic job of leading the reader through a dense plot, making The Ruin of Kings a supremely-accessible epic fantasy experience that doesn’t sacrifice moral ambiguity, structural creativity, or textured worldbuilding in the process.

When filmmakers option a book for development into a movie or TV series, the author grants special rights to the production company, allowing it to develop a film based on the story depicted in the publication. However, the agreement doesn’t guarantee the development of a movie or TV series. The deal allows a filmmaker to explore the viability of turning the book into a cinematic production, making it the first step toward the television or big screen. Teraeth reveals that Kihrin in the Afterlife had never said a word before volunteering, and then when he did, Teraeth's past wife volunteered as well, causing Teraeth to volunteer. Tyentso interrupts them, and calls them to the prepared ship. They discuss Xaltorath, Relos Var, and Gadrith, and Kihrin asserts he must stop them. Janel asks who Elana was, and Kihrin states she wasn Kihrin knew many, if not most, of the guilds ultimately took their cues from a Royal House, but he'd never learned which ones....

Without spoiling anything, let me just say that there are some startling revelations waiting in this book and the ending is so phenomenal, I just can't imagine how she is going to top it in the next book. Practically a prisoner, Kihrin discovers that being a long-lost prince is nothing like what the storybooks promised. The storybooks have lied about a lot of other things, too: dragons, demons, gods, prophecies, and how the hero always wins.
