Cetylated fatty acids are unusual in that they only occur in two places in nature – in sperm whale oil and in a strain of mice renowned for their immunity against arthritis. The celadrin in inflammation cream for muscle and joint pain is derived from monounsaturated fats found in olive oil, however. In another study of 42 patients with OA, Celadrin cream greatly improved patients’ functionality. They also experienced less pain and stiffness in their knees just 30 minutes after using it [ 11].

There are few studies that examine the effectiveness of Celadrin in diseases other than osteoarthritis. Those are either pilot or low-quality trials with no follow-up and have a small number of subjects. Celadrin is a blend of waxy, cetylated fatty acids (CFAs) that are laid down in cell membranes to improve their flexibility and resilience. It also has an anti-inflammatory, pain-killing action. In safety terms it has been rigorously tested and has been found to be totally safe and well absorbed. This is a subjective assessment based on the strength of the available informations and our estimation of efficacy. Data from the study also indicated that Celadrin not only promoted joint flexibility, but also supported and promoted the ability to walk long distances.In some cases adjustments to the diet can help to improve the symptoms of joint problems. Myristoleic acid was discovered in the 1970s in mice that were immune to arthritis. It was combined with cetyl alcohol to form cetyl myristoleate, the first cetylated fatty acid and the main component of Celadrin [ 2].
