About this deal

It has a strong scent of tea tree, which is as bit medicinal but fresh, and the shampoo does a fabulous job of soothing irritated areas on the skin. Ingredients: Olea europaea (Pumice olive oil), Aqua (water), Cocus Nucifera ( coconut oil), Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower oil), Cera alba ( beeswax), Butyrospermum Parkii ( shea butter), *Eucalyptus globules (Eucalyptus oil), *Lavandula augustifolia (Lavender oil).

When fabricating “shampoo” soap bars, the soaps are normally highly superfatted to help combat some of the shortcomings of soap for hair, and help prevent some of the damage that it can cause. Even when made in that manner, I don’t think soap is ideal for making shampoo. If I feel that soap can be damaging to hair, why would I use it on my dog’s hair? And for those dry and sore noses and paws we have our natural and vegan ultra deep conditioning balm.

Recommended by vets, this shampoo is antibacterial, anti-fungal and provides instant cooling and relief for hotspots and itchy patches. It includes natural ingredients such as peppermint, spearmint, tea tree and clove. Rich in vitamin E (which has anti-inflammatory properties) and free from parabens, it really does help irritation to subside on the first use. Smells lovely, cleans well and provides itch relief. I love the Lavender, Lemongrass and Neem Oil Pet Shampoo Bar. It leaves my dog’s coat shiny and smelling great. Plus, it’s so much easier to use than liquid shampoo. I also appreciate that it’s eco-friendly and made with natural ingredients. My dog has never looked or smelled better!”– Sarah, dog mom to Max

Blend all of your oils together, and heat slightly if the temperature of the mixture is under 100°F. So, you’d think that my answer is going to be that a dog’s more alkaline pH will better tolerate soap’s higher pH…

Not all essential oils are safe for dogs, but I chose a mixture of insect repelling essential oils for this soap that are said to be safe for dogs. (As with essential oils for people, essential oils on dogs should be used diluted as it is in this soap.) I chose these particular oils to help leave behind a scent that will help keep some insects away. That’s also one of the reasons I choseneem oil for this soap. In any case, the neem oil also leaves behind a scent that will help ward of unwanted insects. Just like with dog shampoos, there are plenty of dog conditioners on the market. I studied the ingredients of a few of them, and I honestly didn’t see much of a difference in the ingredients used. Once again, my intuition tells me that a lot of the difference is really just marketing hype. Calendula is a plant that has been used for centuries for its potent healing properties. It contains anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial compounds, which can soothe irritated skin and promote healing. This makes it an excellent choice for pets who suffer from skin conditions such as dermatitis, or who have sensitive skin that is easily irritated by harsher ingredients. Calendula also has natural antifungal properties, making it effective in combating common skin conditions such as ringworm. An important tip to remember when using a dog shampoo bar is to allow the bar to drain and dry between uses. This helps to extend its lifespan and ensures you get the most out of each bar. You can do this by storing the bar on a soap dish or in a soap saver bag, both of which will allow the bar to dry out effectively. The Environmental Impact: Why Dog Shampoo Bars are the Eco-Friendly Choice

Are dog shampoo bars suitable for all breeds?Yes, our dog shampoo bars are suitable for all breeds, ages, and skin types. They’re also safe for use on other furry friends, including cats and horses! We carefully select our ingredients to ensure they’re gentle yet effective, making our shampoo bars a versatile choice for a wide range of pets. There are many irritants that could cause your dog to have itchy skin. It’s easy to think that scratching is normal canine behaviour, but you could be overlooking something more sinister. Itchiness may indicate that your dog is responding to certain allergens, whether in the environment or in his diet. You should consult your vet to find out the cause of habitual scratching, rashes or dry skin, because it may require combined action of both a change in diet (to a dog food for allergies) alongside medication. However, you may also want to support this treatment by using one of the best dog shampoos for itchy skin, or if you simply want to keep your pooch’s skin in tiptop health. While you should not expect to clear up the root cause of your dog’s itchiness simply by bathing him, if there is an obvious source, such as mites, fleas or pollen, washing with an appropriate shampoo will help soothe irritated skin. If your pet has sensitive skin, our Lavender, Chamomile and Calendula Pet Shampoo Bar is an excellent choice. All our bars are suitable for sensitive skin due to their natural ingredients. However, this particular bar is ideal for extra sensitive pets, thanks to its inclusion of calendula-infused oils and botanicals. The lemon juice or vinegar brings the pH of the homemade dog shampoo down from around 9 to about8. Seven is considered neutral. Your soap will not actually be neutral, but it will be closer than leaving it alone. Allowingit to cure for 6 weeks or more will also help create a milder bar.
