About this deal

Frieda Klein, a London psychoanalyst, is a loner and an amnesiac who roams the streets in search of elusive sleep and even more elusive peace. She becomes involved in a child abduction case and butts heads with the DCI Malcolm Karlsson. When the case takes a horrible turn (thanks to her meddling), she becomes the target of killer Dean Reeve’s obsession. She seems to have an uncanny insight into Reeve’s thoughts. Their conflict results in murders, rejections, accusations, and threatens everything that Frieda holds dear. It culminates in the final book, Day of the Dead. Along the way, Frieda, once a loner, begins to form a group of unlikely friends. mood του βιβλίου, ίσως από την άλλη ότι ήθελα κι άλλο, λίγο επίσης ότι κάποια πράγματα νομίζω ότι δεν εξηγήθηκαν στο τέλος (πχ ποιος πήρε το βραχιολάκι, πού το βρήκε, γιατί τώρα και όχι παλιότερα), συν ότι το ποιος ήταν τελικά ο δολοφόνος και ο λόγος που διέπραξε το έγκλημα με ξενέρωσε. Struggling to make sense of this terrifying investigation, Frieda will face her darkest fears in the hunt for a clever and brutal killer . . . The other thing I couldn’t wrap my brain around was the relationship with Frieda’s mother, and the way Frieda behaved to some recurring characters that just did not make sense, and how some characters underwent lobotomies. Seriously, they changed so completely, I couldn’t understand it. A young woman agrees to do a favor for her first love—but when things go horribly wrong, one small task turns into a murder investigation that completely upends her life, ensnaring her in a deadly web of secrets and lies.

The most recent victim's mother lashes out at Frieda: "Don't you talk to me in that calm voice. You don't understand. You'll never understand. You're not a mother. You're just a machine. You don't know what it feels like HERE."Ruth Lennox is found by her daughter in a pool of her own blood. But who would want to murder an ordinary housewife? And why? Nicci French's sophisticated, compassionate and gripping crime novels stand head and shoulders above the competition' Sophie Hannah

This prompts Frieda to return to her hometown in hopes of drawing out the rapist, but other complications arise when she visits her mother for the first time in a long while, and when Frieda makes some startling decisions regarding her personal life. This is the 7th book in the Psychotherapist Dr Frieda Klein series by authors Nicci Gerrard and Sean French who publish under the pseudonym Nicci French. A gritty heroine, a gruesome crime and a terrifying hunt for a psychotic killer, Tuesday's Gone is not to be missed by fans of psychological thrillers. And as Hannah's case takes hold of her, Frieda soon begins to realize that she's up against someone who'll go to any lengths to protect themself. Frieda is the lead investigator in this story, and gets little help at all from her inspector friend. She is the one pounding the pavement, doing interviews, and trying to gather evidence, even DNA evidence, which was pretty far fetched.

The twists within the last few chapters left me thinking about it for hours after' 5***** READER REVIEW I was never quite certain why he committed the first crimes he did. (I can’t say much without giving away Blue Monday‘s plot.) He feel more like an omnipresent “feeling” than a fully developed character like, say, Josef or Frieda or Karlsson. My other complaint is that s everal books revolve around deaths by hanging, which the police assume are suicides but turn out to be murders. I launched into Friday On My Mind, book five of the Freida Klein series by Nicci French, directly after finishing Thursday's Children. I would give this book a 3.5 if it was possible as I enjoyed the authors' writing style and the rather complex storyline featuring Frieda Klein. She is a psychotherapist who, it appears, is always helping or harming the London police by becoming involved in their cases. And that is where my problem begins which I must clarify is not the fault of the author. stars. In London, psychotherapist Frieda Klein comes home from a hard day to find a nasty smell, which leads to a dead body under the floorboards of her house. She knows the victim. He has been helping her look for her nemesis Dean Reeve but looks like Reeve found him first. At least the police now believe Reeve is alive and killing. As the people close around her are beaten, kidnapped, and even murdered, Frieda works with the police and media. Using her unusual skill of noticing things that others don't, she believes someone else is obsessing about her besides Reeve.

But, the thing about this story is how the characters we have come to know, suddenly changed, or were not in the picture at all and I kind of missed that element. I also found the explanation of Frieda's reason to leave her hometown and her family as well as the interaction between her and her relatives/friends really robotic. In fairness, I realised that the reaction to death in any Nicci French novel is so cold and unaffected that the whole concept of death loses importance and weight. And the importance of human emotion and love is so downplayed everywhere that it makes the characters sound and feel mechanic.

Frieda's mother is dying, and even if she wasn't, she'd still be unlikeable. Juliet Klein's granddaughter has had her issues, "Because her mother's a slut. Yes." I’m not here to be a comfort. (…) I’m going to tell you something. This won’t go away. This will never stop being a part of your life, a part of who you are. And that doesn’t have to be a bad thing.” If you have read Saturday Requiem you know that Dean Reeves has left a grisly calling card for Frieda under her living room floor. Dean Reeves is a serial killer who has haunted Frieda's life for years as both a tormentor and a protector. Finally the police officially believe her about Reeves being alive and an all out search is launched for him. I jumped into this series with this book, yes it’s the seventh book, but I have heard so many amazing things about it and I just know I’ll never have the time to start at the beginning so I figured this was the perfect opportunity to see what all the hype is about.

Thursday's Child by Nicci French is the fourth novel in the bestselling Frieda Klein series, following Blue Monday, Tuesday's Gone and Waiting for Wednesday. Unable to discover quite who is telling the truth and who is lying, they know they are getting closer to a killer. But whoever murdered Poole is determined to stay free - and anyone that gets too close will meet the same fate. A bloated corpse turns up in the Thames, throat slashed, and the only clue is a hospital wristband reading Dr. F. Klein. Frieda is taken to see the body and realizes with horror that it is Sandy, her ex-boyfriend. She’s certain that the killer is Dean Reeve—the man who has never stopped haunting her. But the police think he has been dead for years, and Frieda is their number one suspect. With few options, Frieda goes on the run to save herself and try to uncover the truth.

Retailers:

The revelations that came out during the investigation totally blindsided me! Wow, who could have seen THAT coming!! But this is no ordinary killer, and every new victim is intended as a message to just one woman - psychologist Freida Klein. From the isolation of the correctional facility, Tabitha dissects every piece of evidence, every testimony she can get her hands on, matching them against her own recollections. But as dark, long-buried memories from her childhood come to light, Tabatha begins to question if she knows what kind of person she is after all. The world is convinced she’s a killer. Tabatha needs to prove them all wrong. Klein is surrounded by people in harrowing circumstances and she does her best for others and herself. So the books are quite soothing, despite the dramatic tension.
