About this deal

Thomas David Hall decided to run in a lifeguard costume, and was the second person to finish the race.

After the success of that challenge, Richard continued to relentlessly campaign to raise awareness on the condition: not only for his son Hugo, but also for many other children and adults living with a similar condition. After last year's marathon taking place in October 2022, the 43rd edition of the event returned to its traditional spring race on 23 April 2023. This marked the second in-person London Marathon after the pandemic, following last year’s Virgin Money London Marathon 2021. I will do it because, in my country, I have always enjoyed racing in my fancy costumes. I always get trophies and prizes wearing them. I want to show everyone that you can run fast if you practice and enjoy running, and that is not depending on what costume you are wearing.” Soon after, with a time of 2:56:38, Peter Butler-Jones set the new record for fastest marathon wearing wellington boots (male).

Eventually, at the end of a fun and rewarding day, a total of 44 runners have snatched a world record: an incredible result that undoubtedly rewarded the long months spent training for the event. From runners supporting their local hospice (like Joan Pons Laplana, attempting to break the record for fastest marathon dressed as a glass) to helping the charities supporting their families, most athletes today decided to help their communities while aiming for a record. He had played a huge role in getting me into a position, physically, to be able to take something like that on.” The record was broken by David Jones during the following year, at the TCF London Marathon 2022. Jones finished with a time of 2 hrs 47 mins 15 secs – shaving some precious minutes off Julian’s previous achievement of 2 hrs 51 mins and 45 secs.

Although sadly Chris didn't get a new record today, he once again managed to raise awareness for the charity close to his heart. Alan secretly applied to us so he could thank Scott in style, by making sure he knew he was the best in the world at something.

Fastest marathon dressed as a fisherman

More runners followed during the early afternoon, from Adele Roberts breaking the record for the fastest marathon with an ileostomy (female) to the eye-catching star costume worn by Peter Banks. Peter broke the record for f astest marathon dressed as a star (male). I write kids' books and do public speaking gigs that align directly with what this nonprofit seeks to fortify at a young age," he explained. Running a marathon is a great way to raise money for a charity but running a marathon in a full suit of armour is even better. Find a charity that means something to you and use this opportunity to help them out. You may even be able to coordinate your costume. Running dressed as a rhino while raising money for Save the Rhino? Genius! Think you could attempt this one at your local haunted house? Classroom assistant Jill Drake of the UK let out a scream that reached 129 dBA when measured at the Halloween festivities held in the Millennium Dome in London in October 2000. More recently, the daughter of his close friends was diagnosed with alopecia and faces hair loss. That fueled his decision to run for the Little Princess Trust, which provides human hair wigs for children and young people experiencing the devastating effects of hair loss.

Becoming fast friends and bonding over their love of ice cream, they set themselves the challenge of finding the best ice cream available in Jersey. Running can be relaxing, inspiring and life-changing, and Emma wanted to embrace the positive aspects of it while having fun. Among the record breakers we have all sorts of sportsmen (like Andrew Roberts, who broke the record for fastest marathon dressed as a badminton player), everyday objects ( fastest marathon dressed as a glass, broken by Joan Pons Laplana), scientists and plenty of mythical creatures, too. From elaborated shrimp costumes and playful lifeguard attires, up to the admirable feat of running while carrying a whole fridge, here are some of the most impressive records achieved at the 2023 event: Challenging the London Marathon in a squirrel costume, Emma has decided to raise money for Cancer Research UK. The organization fights a battle that is very close to Emma's heart since, unfortunately, her mother has recently been diagnosed with bowel cancer. With a lovely family in Nottingham – she lives with her partner Damian and his daughter Carrie, as well as an adorable dog named Monty – Emma soon discovered that she didn’t care much about the competitive aspect of running. Apparently, Thomas’ nine-year-old son did not think his dad could beat such a long-standing record!

This creative mother of two has already accumulated plenty of miles (having achieved her best time so far during the London Marathon 2021) but, this year, she decided to try a "different angle". And we mean this literally. The fastest time to carve one tonne of pumpkins is 3 hours 33 minutes 49 seconds, achieved by Stephen Clarke (USA) at Harrah's Casino Resort, Atlantic City, NJ on 29 October 2008. After his eldest son, Hugo, was diagnosed with autism, Richard (who already conquered 12 marathons and seven ultramarathons) decided to dedicate his sports achievements to raising money for the National Autistic Society. Although David didn't manage to break the record, he still raised money and awareness for a charity close to his heart.

Fastest marathon dressed in Thai traditional dress

And as they passed the finish line together at 3 hr 48 min 12 sec, little did Scott know that they’d just secured the record for fastest marathon dressed as a sweet food (male).
