About this deal

The Hennessy museum is a must if you are in the region. It has been entirely refurbished to give visitors one of the most cutting edge insights into the world of Cognac - particularly if you're wondering where Hennessy is made. A visit begins with a scenic boat trip across the River Charente, before going on to discover the various stages in Cognac production - you will see the genesis of the process from the grape, to distillation, to maturing for decades in oak casks.

To celebrate the 2019 Chinese New Year, the number one Cognac brand joined forces with Guangyu Zhang, a Chinese artist, to reinterpret the Hennessy XO decanter and design.

Hennessy XO– XO means E xtra Old, indicating that the blend has undergone aging for at least 10 years. Since its founding in 1765, Hennessy has been guided by a passion to craft the world’s finest Cognacs - our drive to Never Stop. Never Settle. Hennessy Cognac is crafted with a strict set of standards defined by the Master Blender Renaud Fillioux de Gironde and handed down from generation to generation. However, when it comes to enjoying Cognac, we haven’t followed any rules since 1765. Today, Renaud Fillioux de Gironde is the head cellar master at Hennessy; he continues to represent this family tradition. He took over from Yann Fillioux in 2018.

Hennessy invented the XO Cognac category in 1870 - characterized by its sinuous decanter that has been reimagined on countless occasions. They have since gone on to invent the XXO Cognac - challenging industry standards and yet remaining staunchly in touch with savoir-faire carefully assembled throughout the ages. Hennesy (Jas Hennessy & Co.) is a well-known French cognac distiller which has over 250 years of experience in manufacturing world-class cognac. It’s headquartered in Cognac, France, and is the one responsible for supplying roughly 40% of the world’s cognac. There are several grades of cognac that are used to grade the quality of the liquor. The grades are: Cognac is a type of brandy named after a region in France with the same name. Cognac is produced by distilling white wine twice. The white wine used in the production process must be dry, thin, and acidic, characteristics that would make them a horrible wine to drink. However, this type of wine is excellent for ageing and distillation.Duty-Free and Travel Retail Prices: If you’re shopping at duty-free stores or travel retail outlets, you may find 1.75-liter Hennessy bottles at slightly discounted prices compared to regular retail locations. Prices can vary depending on the specific store and location. Compared to other spirits, tequila, for example, cognac undergoes aging in barrels for a much longer time. This alone makes it quite expensive due to its extremely limited production. In fact, cognac only makes up around 1% of the world’s spirits production! V.S (Very Special) or three stars signifies cognac that has been aged for at least two years inside the cask.
