About this deal

Need just a clap or a cowbell here or there? The SPD-One is perfect for you. There’s only one pad to hit here and nothing complicated about it. By far the smallest contender on the list is the SPD-One. The Multi-Pad Sampling function makes it easy to capture inspiration on the fly, while the three powerful multi-effects engines provide real-time control over your sound. Plus, with Ableton Live integration, you can use the SPD-SX as a pad controller for music production sessions. When the blue Firmware screen appears, let go of the buttons, and press the main encoder to start the firmware update.

If for some reason you cannot hear your pad in the nightmare scenario of a bad in-ear monitor mix, at least you’ll have a visual representation of what your drum pad is doing.

The Pad Cue option allows you to hear your loops/samples through your headphones prior to launching them through the Main outputs. This allows you to make sure the right loop comes in at the right time, which is extremely helpful in a live setting whether you’re a drummer, DJ, Guitar player etc... The Roland SPD-SX and Alesis Strike MultiPad are the two big hitters vying for the top percussion pad spot. The former has been the go-to for a number of years thanks to its intuitive design, CD sound quality and perfect integration into v-drum setups or working as a standalone instrument. So proud of the MultiPad, this is the first ever percussion pad that Alesis have granted the “Strike” name. Nord Keyboards is a Swedish instrument manufacturer. The company began in 1983 when founder Hans Nordelius created the Digital Percussion Plate 1. Since then, Nord has made tons of great products used by many musicians all over the world.

New Sample Manager, Kit Saving Options and Metronome enhancements make Strike MultiPad the most versatile and capable performance pad on the market.

Registered office: V12 Retail Finance Limited, Yorke House, Arleston Way, Solihull, B90 4LH. Authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. The sound banks already installed are very good indeed, but for me the Strike Multipad shines when you use it to trigger VST samples and external midi gear, it's pure joy. They inform you of the BPM of an assigned loop and light up from left to right, indicating how far a loop is through its cycle. There’s also an option to play random pads from hitting just the one to mix up your sound the way hitting a cajon would produce different tonality each time. It’s definitely a step up in price when compared to the SamplePad Pro, but with the added features and build quality, I believe it’s justified. [wp-review id=”4504″]

TIP: Trigger In 2/3and 4/5are for dual-zone triggers. However, you can use a ¼” TRS to dual ¼” TS cable and connect two single-zone triggers instead. Once saved, you will now need to edit the waveform so the initial transient begins when you hit your pad. While the Alesis Strike MultiPad has extensive sampling capabilities for you to record and create, it also comes with many samples and loops built-in. You are in the middle of creating the sound you want. You’ve been working for hours, tweaking the on-board effects until they’re just right… but then you switch kits and forget to save!Alternatively, experience the production powerhouse that is ProTools | First - a complete DAW based on the same music creation and audio production tools that award-winning artists, musicians, producers, engineers, and mixers rely on every day. This can be a little bit tedious to do on the sampler, so you may want to edit any additional samples in a DAW prior to importing them to your sample pad. A + B sample function
