About this deal

Take time to note the physical detail with which the punishments of the sinners are described in lines 91–120. This canto and the next one are dominated by images of physical metamorphoses. Dante’s Inferno continues to ignite curiosity as well as questions for modern readers. As Dante imagines life after death, he also imagines the cruel punishments inflicted on sinners. In Dante’s hell, the most severe sinners are left to languish in the deepest pits. Throughout their journey into hell’s deepest recesses, Dante and Virgil witness the intense suffering of souls. Human bodies are pushed to their mental and physical breaking points. Enclave Radio is a miscellaneous quest and radio station in the Fallout 4 Creation Club content "X-02 Power Armor".

A stained glass window at Basilica Notre-Dame of Geneva depicts an angel fighting Satan, who is depicted as a dragon. Such dragon depictions were common during the Medieval period. (Image credit: Godong /Getty) Canto XXVII is entirely dedicated to the encounter between Dante and Guido da Montefeltro, a Ghibelline famous for his leadership and astuteness in military affairs. Dante’s encounter with Guido is characterised by the bestial sounds which Guido’s voice produces through the flame before it is able to reach the flame’s tip and be heard as human language. Before identifying himself Guido wishes to know the present political situation of the Romagna, his native region. After Dante has answered, Guido identifies himself and says that he is willing to tell his story because he believes Dante and Virgil to be damned souls who would not be able to return to the world and diminish his fame. One should also note that, alongside and despite all this, the culture of Dante’s day was also characterised by a fruitful dialogue between Islamic and Christian thinkers. Finally, it is extremely important to note that Dante’s decision to place Mohammed in the ninth bolgia does not stem from a prejudice against Islam as such, as much as his decision to place Curio in the ninth bolgia does not stem from a prejudice against paganism as such. Indeed in Limbo Dante recognises in Islamic philosophers and military leaders the same moral excellence he recognizes in pagan figures such as Virgil and Aristotle (see Inferno IV). Senior, Matthew (1994). In the Grip of Minos: Confessional Discourse in Dante, Corneille, and Racine. Columbus: Ohio State University Press. pp.48–49. OCLC 625327952. It’s interesting to note that Pontius Pilate, who sentenced Jesus to death, is never explicitly named throughout Inferno. While he would have been a great candidate for the ninth circle, he is omitted. Alighieri, Dante; Björkesson, Ingvar (2006). Den gudomliga komedin (Divine Comedy), comments by Ingvar Björkesson. Levande Litteratur (in Swedish). Natur & Kultur. p.425. ISBN 978-91-27-11468-5.In the ninth circle, the lines between life and death feel blurred. Concrete notions of humanity and being have slipped away as we try to comprehend the suffering of the giants and Lucifer. Ugolino and His Sons by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux ( Metropolitan Museum of Art) depicts Ugolino della Gherardesca's story from Canto XXXIII. Imprisoned for treachery, Ugolino starves to death with his children, who, before dying, beg him to eat their bodies
