About this deal

maybe more than 10% of the Earth would still be.. would still be inhabitable. And all the moving would not have been necessary would not have been necessary. But what the hell. So, putting that out there very simply, but it wouldn't be a review if I didn't actually rate it. Unlike the majority of the previous discussion posts, I'm female (identify as such) and wear the fragrance myself, which is by no means made easy here. Every other comment starts with "classic masculine" womanizer" "sexy, dapper man" and so on. Understandable, since this fragrance does have a DNA that we have long, long associated with classic men's colognes. But Grey Flannel is almost half a century old now, so maybe it's time to rethink it. I think this scent has the potential to grow on me. It's quite potent upon the first spray, and the astringent, bright, soapy quality might turn some people off. The sillage is much more pleasant than sniffing it up close. It's too harsh when smelled up close, and I don't think it was meant to be smelled that way.

My take on all of it is the strength of Iris and Powder are forward, while the base is a softer but strong herbal presence. Like the smell of semen, it’s something that is undeniably masculine, familiar and inescapable. Beene's first career choice was to become a doctor, and so he started to study medicine at New Orleans' Tulane University. When he realized that he wanted to be a fashion designer, he left university in 1946 and moved to New York the following year. He took up fashion design at a local college and, after finishing his studies successfully, he went on to work for several fashion houses in New York and in Paris, France. Best for: Narciso Rodrigues For Him is a fantastic fragrance to wear during the spring, fall, and winter. This fragrance has a heaviness to it, which makes it a little too strong for the warm, summer days. However, when it’s a bit cooler outside, this fragrance works perfectly. The strong, somewhat heavy scent works perfectly as a casual fragrance, during both the day and night. 5. Hugo Boss Bottled Night Scent: Christian Dior Fahrenheit is a very interesting and bold fragrance. This fragrance opens with a scent of gasoline, mixed with a fresh, aromatic scent of violet leaves. Shortly after this opening, hints of leather can be detected, adding to the boldness of this fragrance. Every now and then, you can also notice a faint hint of cucumber. Overall, this is a very polarizing fragrance. You either love it, or you hate it. But if you do love it, this is a fantastic fragrance with a subtle hint of violet. As a young man in the early 80s, I found this scent to be sophisticated and beyond my years, associating it the presence of mature men. Over time, however, I learned that such strength was emblematic of men with confidence and quiet power. The type of man who is noticed when he enters a room, not on his exit. Citrus, fresh, marine. Designed by Geoffrey Beene in 1996, Eau De Grey Flannel for men is a refreshing, woody, mossy, fragrance. It is the result of the following top fragrance notes: bergamot, freesia and citrus. For Grey Flannel, he envisioned the ultimate "take you anywhere" suit, made out of the noblest, but also friendliest of materials: grey flannel, of course. It can be safe for the office, great for after hours, dependable on the surface as only a stereotype can be. But the scent eschews all stereotypes, much like dark, brooding characters who only seem like something, while they're hiding something else underneath. I’m always curious about the reactions to Grey Flannel, and of late it seems to illicit a bit of confusion, and for some, disdain.

Grey Flannel Geoffrey Beene cologne - a fragrance for men 1975

Answer: There are different amounts of Grey Flannel Cologne fragrances. The bottle that you dab on, does not have a spray nozzle and comes in an 8oz bottle. The spray bottle comes in 4oz and 1oz. Question: Does Grey Flannel smell good? When it comes to cologne, I was introduced to different fragrances as a kid. I’ve had at least one serious boyfriend in my life and I’ve always been surrounded by men who were fans of smelling nice (i.e. brother, stepdad, uncles, etc.). Keep collections to yourself or inspire other shoppers! Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections - they may also appear in recommendations and other places. The man who wears this in cooler weather is the quiet type, a smart businessman or someone who has been opting for it for half his life and wisely knows not to change. If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it, as they say. The only misstep? Perhaps that flannel in question is really purplish-green instead of grey? But we can be very forgiving in his case… Not for the faint of heart, it leaves an unforgettable impression. In a world of conformity, it is both distinguished and, despite some comments to the contrary, reserved. Unpredictable, the resultant impacts may vary. This cologne smells more for a middle-aged man and someone more of a social guy. I wouldn’t recommend this fragrance for a younger man in his early 20s, nor a teenager. If you wanted to get this cologne as a gift for someone, I would say a man older than 25 would enjoy this.

Geoffrey Beene Eau de Grey Flannel Eau de Toilette Spray 30

In the perfume chapter of his book "Der Gentleman" Bernhard Roetzel writes about "Grey Flannel" and others: Extraordinary and unforgettable, this elixir captures masculinity and confidence in ways other scents that were contemporaries in the 1975 introduction do not. Unconventional and independent, it remains distinctive and unforgettable.A perfect balance between a green and vegetal bitterness with the softness and purity of narcissus flower, with all the natural notes of geranium, iris, violet, vetiver, and oakmoss. A fine abstract. It smells like the morning light in September, when the trees are blue and golden, and the grass is covered in dew. There's something powdery in this scent that makes it milder, although it doesn't lose its greenness. In conclusion, I would not recommend Grey Flannel, simply because it’s more of a body spray type of feel, versus a powerful cologne that will last you throughout a party. I think it has a nice undertone of freshness, but compared to the more expensive colognes, I would give it a no. Not to say that the smell is horrendous. I just think for a cologne, there should be more of a powerfulness. Scent: Narciso Rodrigues For Him is a fantastic fragrance with a beautiful scent of musk and violet. This fragrance opens with a strong, green scent, along with a musky influence. This creates an interesting, but very nice scent. After a little while, you can really start to notice the violet in this fragrance, which, combined with the musk, makes for the majority of this fragrance. Besides the violet and musk, there’s also a strong influence of patchouli, which mainly attributes to the green opening. Grey Flannel by Geoffrey Beene– Basenotes Grey Flannel by Geoffrey Beene– Basenotes

When he felt that he had gathered enough experience, he set up his own business, Geoffrey Beene, Inc., in Manhattan, New York. His company was located on Seventh Avenue (also dubbed Fashion Avenue) and featured a design showroom that soon attracted New Yorkers from all ways of life. Only one year after the company was founded, one of Beene's designs was featured on the cover of VOGUE fashion magazine. Some of his most prominent customers were the well-known actresses Glenn Close and Faye Dunaway and Nancy Reagan, the First Lady of the United States from 1981 to 1989. It is well known that today there is a popular fragrance category within the genus "Freshies" (as the English-speaking Youtuber probably call it), whose representatives are supposed to convey the impression of refreshed ability to go out or visit: Freshly showered, fresh laundry from the line: Everything concentrated in the bottle. "Grey Flannel" basically doesn't do anything else, only in the old and - in my opinion - more interesting way. In concrete terms, this means not taking a shower, but taking a bath. Not with liquid soap and shower gel lubricated, but with curd soap rubbed off (whose parents and/or grandparents did not have this almost endlessly productive piece of curd soap, possibly with pine smell, in the bath lie?). The laundry is not treated with Lenor's "Sommerwaldstrandbergquellzauber" fabric softener (which also damages the fibres), but refreshed with a shot of the herbaceous-floral ironing water additive alone (the housekeeper says her great-grandma already swore on it). The first cologne I smelled and fell in love with was Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue. I love how the fragrance is light but still very commanding of your senses. It almost reminds me of the ocean, which is why I think the commercial does a wonderful job of visually describing how the scent smells. Scent: Geoffrey Beene Grey Flannel is a fantastic fragrance with a woody, musky, and floral scent. This fragrance opens with an immediate blast of juicy violet. This scent of violet sets the tone for the remainder of the fragrance, being fresh, but strong. After a little while, some woody notes come into play, blending perfectly with the violet from the opening. When this fragrance starts to dry down, you mainly get a very pleasant scent of musk, which will linger around you for a very long time.

I’d suggest wearing this when one has the confidence to do so, and the more it mixes with one’s own testosterone and male biochemistry, the more powerful and intoxicating it may become. Notes: The top notes of Geoffrey Beene Grey Flannel are lemon, bergamot, petitgrain, neroli, and galbanum. The middle notes are rose, sage, narcissus, violet, geranium, iris, and mimosa. The base notes are cedar, vetiver, oakmoss, almond, and tonka bean. Elena Vosnaki is a historian, archaeologist and fragrance author. She has written for Fragrantica since 2009. Interviews regarding Vosnaki's unique status as perfume historian & writer appear in VOGUE Hellas, ICON Magazine and Queen.gr. Best for: Byredo Mojave Ghost is a fantastic fragrance to wear during the spring and summer. This fragrance has an airy, light vibe to it, which could be a little too weak for the colder months. However, during those warmer months, this is such a fantastic fragrance to wear to pretty much any occasion. It’s great for casual wear, it’s subtle and safe enough to wear it to the office, and it’s mysterious enough to wear to a festive event. 2. Christian Dior Fahrenheit The note of violet is a floral fragrance note, often used as a supporting note. When we’re talking about the note of violet, it is important to know that there are two different violet notes. First, you have the note of the violet flower, which has a somewhat earthy, powdery, and fresh scent. Second, there is the note of violet leaves, which has a green and even somewhat metallic scent.
