Both options were designed to ensure your baby’s safety and provide that unparalleled view of the crib. But you might prefer one configuration over the other depending on your style preferences.

While we love the Nanit Pro baby monitor, there are still some things that don’t work perfectly when it comes to traveling with this portable monitor. In pursuit of transparency and credibility, our articles incorporate credible third-party sources, peer-reviewed studies, and abstracts. These sources are directly linked within the text or provided at the bottom of the articles to grant readers easy access to the source material. CONTRIBUTORS Stress no more about where to place the monitor to get a good view. Simply install Nanit near the closest outlet, then set up Nanit’s floor stand or wall mount behind and above the crib. This ensures your camera is placed exactly where it needs to be to get the perfect view of baby, allowing you and our smart sleep analytics to see every important detail. It’s definitely at its most useful in the early days of putting your baby down for a nap in a different room, or when you eventually move their cot into a nursery. And it’s particularly handy with a first baby when many parents need some extra reassurance.

Okay, okay, we know right now you’re probably thinking, “What in the world is a wall mount and why are these guys so excited about it?” Kristy Ojala is Nanit’s Digital Content Director. She spends way too much time looking at maps and weather forecasts and pictures of Devon Rex cats and no-cook dinners. A former sleep champion, she strives to share trustworthy somnabulism tips with other parents—praying for that one fine day when no tiny humans wake her up while it’s still dark out. Her kids highly recommend 3 books, approximately 600 stuffies, Chopin’s “Nocturnes,” and the Nanit Sound + Light for bedtime success. If you’re already familiar with the original Nanit Plus, there are a few things Nanit has improved on for the Nanit Pro. Firstly, the image quality is much better, which is no mean feat considering it was pretty good before, and we particularly like its night vision, which is something a lot of monitors, even at the top end of the market, struggle with. The summary will indicate if the baby had a good, fair or poor night of sleep and explain which areas impacted their “score” based on what they consider normal (sleep onset of 35 minutes or less, 5 visits to the crib or less, time asleep of 8 hours or more and sleep efficiency of 88% or above). Fun though all those nifty little features are, it’s the core skills of a machine like the Nanit Pro that really matter. Things like image quality (which is really excellent, even in the dark) and the monitor’s reliability are both areas in which the Nanit excels. Note: The multi-stand does not provide the same birds-eye view as the floor stand, so Nanit will not be able to detect when your child falls asleep, wakes up, or receives a visit. Additionally, you will not receive sleep summaries while using the multi-stand. The size of the Nanit makes it very manageable to travel with, especially if you’re using the portable mini stand. The entire device will fit inside a small purse, which is where I carry it to avoid it getting ruined when flying with a baby.

Nanit Flex Multi-Stand Travel Baby Monitor Accessory

We have used the Nanit monitor with a floor stand since our son moved to his own room at 3 months old. We love the clarity of picture, even in the dark, and especially the insights it provides on the quality of sleep. Nanit has been working with parents since 2016, using innovative technology to help them feel more reassured of their child’s wellbeing, particularly during the early months. Each time you move the camera out of the house/hotel where you’re using it and connect to another network you will have to go through the process to reconnect to wifi each time. New, improved stability and durable, compact design for any sleep space! Its solid base allows it to easily fit under smaller cribs and offers added stability with a minimal footprint.Celine Brewer is the owner of Baby Can Travel. Not only does she have years of experience traveling with babies & toddlers, but she's helped millions of new parents travel with their babies and toddlers for over a decade. In addition to writing on her baby travel blog, she has shared her expertise on traveling with a baby or toddler by contributing to articles about traveling with a baby with the Washington Post, USA Today, the Lonely Planet magazine and Pregnancy & Newborn magazine. We also enjoyed the video clips and particularly the heat map videos that show your baby’s movements throughout the whole night. They’re just a bit of fun, but are great for sharing by message or social media with grandparents or other family members who live far away. As parents, we often worry (maybe a little too much?) about the sleep our babies are getting. Even when traveling, getting your baby to sleep on vacation is likely forefront on your mind but more importantly, so is the safety of your baby. Where your phone gets service you can see the video stream from it. Since the Nanit is a wifi camera you can get alerts on your phone for movement near the crib, sound alerts and temperature alerts. You set the levels in the app settings, or turn them off completely if you choose. We like this because we don’t feel the need to be glued to the video stream knowing we will be alerted if he makes noise.
