About this deal

There is even an appearance by a sleazy male author who shows up to do a book signing, but is ousted as a creep. His assistant quits and she and Jo kind of flirt with each other. Rina and Imogen become friends in the bathroom after Rina freaks out. Then the band of misfit teens band together to throw an event to raise money to save the book store complete with someone saying " Damn the Man! Save Wild Nights" Considering This is All Your Fault takes place over 24 hours only in a bookstore, the amount of characterization Safi gives her characters is amazing. This multiple POV book combines all the things I love - fierce heroines, a bookstore, and characters who are vulnerable and passionate. They're all united by this one bookstore, the place they call refuge, the place they call their workplace, each of their own escapes. The home of their dreams, of the futures, of their first loves, of their fights.

Your Fault (Culpable, book 2) by Mercedes Ron - Fantastic Fiction

However, I did have some issues with this. First of all, the plot of this is so flimsy and does nothing for the story. It’s also quite annoyingly set up, with the whole thing stretched out unnecessarily, especially in light of the fact that the plot was so daft. I think the story took a while to get going, without really needing to, because the first half of this doesn’t do much in my opinion. Now for how this book made me feel. I felt relied when it as over in all honesty. Not that it wasn't a good book I loved it so much. I was upset with the main characters thinking about how selfish they were. It isn't a bad feeling especially as any book that makes you feel strongly is powerful. The story moves on 17 years and still with a strained relationship with her mother, Grace is married to Troy who works in insurance and they have two children, Mia aged 10 and Russ aged 5. Russ is starting school and Grace has her first job interview, a part time PA post that pays very well. The interview didn’t go too well, or so she thought, but she lands the job anyway. It turns out to be a bit strange and she soon finds herself going above and beyond her job description. Is her new boss taking advantage of her need to keep a well paid job by working her all the hours or does he have an ulterior motive? As she becomes more stressed and tired, she starts to worry that she is being followed. Could it be her imagination – after all her grandmother was schizophrenic and killed herself in a horrific manner – or is there another kind of madness at work? I loved the interactions the girls had with each other. They’re all extremely different, and it seems that there’s no way these girls with so little in common would be friends, but they’re all united in the goal of saving the bookstore, and they’re able to overcome differences to work together and really see each other, not just their facades, which I loved. The anxiety rep was absolutely on point for me; the frequent feeling to puke, the constant horror of actually puking, and the constricted chest that can only breathe again after puking—I know I'm being highly specific of what impressed me but it's the highest point for me to relate with; rest all details were anyway perfect. The portrayal of depression isn't something I can comment on but it definitely helped me connect with Imogen on a deeper level so the emotional understanding through a bumpy mental health was clearly felt. Grace has her own life with husband Troy and children Mia and Russ. She is offered a highly paid job at a finance firm as a PA and during this time, she begins to question what she sees and what is real or not. She feels anxious which could be down to the numerous cups of coffee she drinks to be able to stay on top of the game but she also has negative thoughts and doubts who she can trust. And when Rinn had an idea, nothing could stop her, come hell or high water—that much had always been apparent about Rinn Olivera.”

You guys, I cannot make this up. I am literally shaking, I am so angry. Empire Records is one of my favorite movies of ALL TIME. I know the movie scene by scene by scene. I cannot fathom how this book got through dozens and dozens of readers, editors, etc and nobody said, "Hey, this is too much like the movie and is treading on dangerous ground." I will say that I wasn't the biggest fan of the relationships between the characters and how they developed. This was genuinely the weakest aspect of this story for me and I think that this is definitely an aspect that suffers if you write a story that just takes place over the course of one day. Disclaimer: I received this book from Edelweiss. This has not impacted my review which is unbiased and honest.)I love contemporary novels set during one day. I love books set in bookstores. I loved the author's previous book. So I was so sure I was going to love this book too. In general while I truly didn't feel very attached to these character because of the nature of this story and the short time span, I just genuinely adored the way these characters were portrayed as flawed but willing to learn and grow. Some of these characters are truly unlikeable but it doesn't make them any less enjoyable to read about.

Your Fault: Why Childhood Trauma Shapes You and How It’s Not Your Fault: Why Childhood Trauma Shapes You and How

Unfortunately, it really didn't work for me. I found it fell really flat and it just didn't feel developed enough for me to feel invested. I think the main issue was that there were too many characters, all of whom weren't really fleshed out. They were more ideas than people, really, but not in a way that worked. Wild Nights bookstore is in trouble and everything comes crashing down on one day. Rinn, Daniella, and Imogen couldn't be more different, but the one thing they agree on is that the bookstore is vital to their lives. As more and more problems mount, they girls have to decide just how much the store means to them and what they're willing to do to save it.I enjoy but it didn't feel like the standard from the genre but instead it felt more like contemporary writing. This was within the first half. I think it showcases the wonderful writing talents of his author. Spans over a day at work in an independent bookstore whose charm and magic is being lost to financial greed. There is also an artsy kid named AJ who is described as having floppy hair that hangs into his eyes, worn in clothes, and deep brown eyes. (This link takes you to a screenshot of the passage I'm discussing) The themes of feminism, friendship, and fading bookstores along with an undertone of mental health, creativity, and belonging are excellent. A take off of the beloved movie Empire Records, This Is All Your Fault follows three girls over the course of a day as they try to save their bookstore from closing. If you haven't seen the movie, you probably will love the book. For me? It was just okay.

Your Fault Culpa Mia Book 2 Culpa Tuya Mercedes Ron Your Fault Culpa Mia Book 2

Briefly, Grace is happily married with two young children. Her husband is an aspiring author so now her youngest, Russ, is starting school she applies for, and gets a well paid job. However, it turns out not to be the dream job she expected as she is asked to do strange and pointless tasks. Grace begins to worry that she has inherited her grandmothers schizophrenia as her mind keeps returning to the day her sister Hope was killed by a hit and run driver. With her husband leaving his job Grace needs to keep hers. But at what cost? Is she going mad or is it something more sinister? Grace sometimes feels that she has inherited her grandmother’s mental illness and as a reader I felt her paranoia and confusion. I really didn’t see the true perpetrator and it left me feeling sorry for all the young people who it seems were in the wrong place at the wrong time with devastating results for their future. I felt for Grace, with her unrelenting guilt over the tragic hit and run death of her younger sister Hope, who was in her care at the time. She also had the spectre of a schizophrenic grandmother in her life, making it easy for both her and me to believe she was devolving into paranoia and hallucinations, but there were enough people around her who knew her vulnerabilities to make me hesitate to categorize her as another unreliable narrator, and ask myself whether she was being gaslighted by some manipulative person in her life. Unusually for me I did not read any of the blurb for this book, I just went in blind and had to navigate my way around the characters and story. I am so relieved I did it this way because I held no preconceived ideas and I didn’t play any guessing games, I just lost myself in the story of Grace. At the centre of this story is the indie bookstore, Wild Nights, and all the characters trying to save the store from being closed. The story starts with a bit of a wild attempt by one of the employees, Eli, to invest a whole bunch of money by buying and re-selling Jordans.. but things just get worse from there. Unable to sleep, she starts to wonder if she is losing her mind? Is she going mad, inheriting the schizophrenia from her grandmother that has become a macabre family myth? The idea of the story is original, and even more so as it goes on and things that happen that may seem to the reader as unbelievable suddenly make sense as the crux of it all becomes clear ( without giving too much away ) The 3 POV characters are all very different from each other and don’t even like each other very much, but they’re more similar to each other than they know (to the point where one of them reads another one’s poetry on the internet and doesn’t know it’s her).
