If you don’t recognize Lauren Asher’s name, you might recognize some of the books she’s published including the Dreamland Billionaires series and the Dirty Air series. Both of these are widely popular and beloved, but the Dreamland Billionaires series holds a special place in my heart. Final Offer did start off on a high so high that I giggled because I assumed this was going to be my book of the year. Cal and Alana were going to be great, and the top couple of the series. Culturess: The Dreamland Billionaires series follows the three Kane brothers who are dealing with a challenge. While I won’t spoil Cal’s request in Final Offer, how did you come up with such a genius idea? Are you excited about the release of Final Offer? Do you have a favorite book of hers? As someone who has read Final Offer, I will say that this is easily the best book of hers yet. You’ll have to wait until Tuesday to find out my thoughts on the final Dreamland Billionaires book, though.Culturess: Without giving away any details about Final Offer, I will say that it’s unlike the previous two installments in the series. Until then, take care! Always having an imaginative streak, Lauren Asher would focus on her love of reading and writing from a very early age. This passion of hers would develop over time, allowing her to essentially become the full-time novelist she’d always wanted to become. Refining and honing her craft throughout the intervening years, she’d come to establish her own unique voice with its distinct style and tone. To me, there is something so comforting about these books. Even though most of the series follows some harder topics and characters dealing with hard truths, the romances are great and the cast of characters is lovable. That’s why when I was given the opportunity to talk to Lauren, I couldn’t say no.
Final Offer is a new adult romance featuring the forced proximity, second chance romance, enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, and single parent tropes. This is the third and final installment in Lauren Asher’s Dreamland Billionaires trilogy, so if you’re new to this series, you should start with book one, The Fine Print, to avoid spoilers. This would be perfect for fans of romance novels like Twisted Love by Ana Huang, Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score, Hook, Line, and Sinker by Tessa Bailey, Every Summer After by Carley Fortune, Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake by Mazey Eddings, and In the Weeds by B.K. Borison. Some themes present in Final Offer include loneliness and isolation, growing up, family, wealth, desire to escape, love and heartbreak, death, mental health, and addiction, but be aware of the following trigger warnings for absentee parents, alcoholism and addiction, and death of a family member (prior to story). I did feel like there were a few pacing issues. The middle part seemed to drag on and then the ending was over in a flash. There were also a lot of huge events that were glossed over in the epilogue that left me feeling a little blindsided. Overall, Final Offer was enjoyable and would recommend it to fellow contemporary romance readers, especially those who love second chance romances! In Lambda Award finalist Chana Porter’s highly anticipated new novel, an aspiring chef, a cyberthief, and a kitchen maid each break free of a society that wants to constrain them. Lauren Asher: I always knew I wanted Cal and Lana to reunite, but the idea of how wasn’t decided upon until I got around to writing his story. Originally, I was headed in the direction of another office romance but a last-minute idea I bounced off my mom turned it into the small-town romance. Final Offer takes the second-chance love and small-town romance tropes and creates a really beautiful and heartwarming story that’s genuinely sweet and emotional. It’s a lot more touching than the other two books and although it contains Asher’s trademark sprinkling of spice, it’s actually pretty adorable.
